Residents yesterday blocked a section of Elletson Road to protest against Wednesday’s accidental shooting death of Nicholas Thomas, 20, in downtown Kingston. Here, one of the demonstrators holds a placard while policemen look on. Inset is a placard with a photo of the deceased. Thomas, who resided in Dunkirk, was hit when an off-duty Jamaica Defence Force soldier allegedly fired at a robber. He was pronounced dead at hospital. A woman was also injured in the shooting. The demonstrators yesterday called for the arrest of the soldier accused of firing the bullet that killed their community member.
