NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer is currently being investigated for an alleged assault that occurred Saturday at a Midtown hotel. The alleged incident took place at the Plaza Hotel. Manhattan detectives are investigating and are attempting to further establish the identity of the subject and the nature of the incident. Spitzer has not been charged. Spitzer resigned as governor in March 2008 after being involved in a prostitution scandal. He tried to make a political comeback in 2013 but lost in the Democratic primary for New York City Comptroller .
