Coffee exporters seek $200m gov’t support

President of the Jamaica Coffee Exporters Association (JCEA)Norman Grant is seeking Government intervention to the tune of $200 million for a recovery programme for the country’s coffee farmers.According to Grant, during a recent meeting of the JCEA, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries Floyd Green committed to contributing $80 million to the coffee recovery programme through the Jamaica Agricultural Commodity Regulatory Authority.

Top Daily Fantasy Players Week 11: O.J. Howard Sneaky Good Option Against Giants

Steve Silverman While it has been an up-and-down year for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the field, their pass-catching threats have consistently been, well, threats in the fantasy football world. Wide receivers Desean Jackson and Mike Evans rank in the top 20 among wide receivers in fantasy points per game with Evans averaging 11.7 and Jackson averaging 11.2. Second year tight end O.J. Howard has also emerged, currently ranking fifth among tight ends this season. With the Bucs set to take on the lowly Giants this week, Howard looks like a nice option at the tight end spot for your daily fantasy lineups. Quarterbacks 1. Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs at Los Angeles Rams, FD Proj. – 29.3 points This is a huge game between two of the best teams in the league, and the backstory changed dramatically Tuesday when the game was moved from Mexico City to Los Angeles because of problems with the field. Mahomes has been a machine this season, showing off his big arm and his propensity to make game-changing plays. He has a 31-7 TD-interception ratio, and he gets a chance to show the Rams exactly what he can do. 2. Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints vs. Philadelphia Eagles – 28.3 points The Saints continue to roll, and it looks like Brees as has a great chance to win the MVP award this season because of his remarkable numbers. Brees is completing 77.3 percent of his passes with a 21-1 TD-interception ratio. In addition to those totals, Brees is playing with remarkable skill and he appears to be in peak form. 3. Jared Goff, Los Angeles Rams vs. Kansas City Chiefs – 27.2 points. The Rams are probably thrilled about getting this home game after preparing for a trip south of the border. Goff should be able to have a strong performance against a Kansas City defense that has been generous throughout the season. 4. Carson Wentz, Philadelphia Eagles vs. New Orleans Saints – 26.5 points The Eagles have not played like a Super Bowl team to this point in the season, but they are still in a position where they can turn things around. That needs to start this weekend and they need to play their best game against the hottest team in the league. This would be an ideal spot for Wentz to show off all his skills and light a fire under his own team. 5. Philip Rivers, Los Angeles Chargers vs. Denver Broncos – 25.4 points The Chargers continue to stay on track for a playoff spot and they have been consistent as they chase the first-place Chiefs. While Los Angeles struggled in Week 10 against the Raiders, they won the game by two touchdowns. Rivers is a relentless leader and we see him throwing three TD passes against the overmatched Broncos. Running backs 1. Todd Gurley, Los Angeles Rams vs. Kansas City Chiefs – 23.8 points If anyone is going to take the MVP award from Brees or Mahomes, it’s likely to be Gurley. He already has 988 rushing yards and he has pounded the ball into the end zone 13 times. He is also a stellar receiver with 402 receiving yards and four more TDs. He is licking his chops to get a chance to compete against the generous Kansas City defense. 2. Saquon Barkley, New York Giants vs. Tampa Bay Bucs – 23.0 points The Giants won a Monday night game against San Francisco, and they gave the team a little hope that it could play respectably in the second half of the season. That may be too optimistic, but there’s no reason that Barkley and the Giants can’t take charge against a poor Tampa Bay team. Barkley’s combination of speed and power could allow him to dominate against the Bucs. 3. Kareem Hunt, Kansas City Chiefs at Los Angeles Rams – 21.3 points The presence of Gurley should bring out the best in the competitive Hunt, who doesn’t want to be thought of as the second-best running back on the field. Hunt has game-breaking speed, and he can dominate as a runner or a receiver. He already has 13 touchdowns – seven as a runner and six more as a receiver. 4. Melvin Gordon, Los Angeles Chargers vs. Denver Broncos – 20.3 points It’s hard to find a player more valuable to his team than Gordon is to the Chargers. He has explosive speed and he runs with power, and his dependability makes life much easier for Philip Rivers. The quarterback has often had to carry the Chargers throughout his tenure with the team, but that is not the case this year. 5. Christian McCaffrey, Carolina Panthers at Detroit Lions – 19.7 points What Gordon does for Rivers is what McCaffrey does for Cam Newton.  He has improved dramatically this season, showing the ground game to match the big-play receiving ability he demonstrated a year ago. McCaffrey has 579 rushing yards and 439 receiving yards and he has a chance to get even more productive in the second half of the year. Wide receivers 1. Michael Thomas, New Orleans Saints at Philadelphia Eagles – 16.8 points The Eagles need to be primed to play their best game if they are going to beat the Saints, but don’t think for a second that they can stop Thomas from making big plays. In addition to his athletic ability, Thomas is one of the game’s best pattern runners and he has excellent hands. Thomas has caught 78 passes for 950 yards and seven TDs. 2. DeAndre Hopkins, Houston Texans at Washington Redskins – 15.9 points It’s one of the great thrills to watch Hopkins go after the football. He has wonderful leaping ability and long arms, and he also has the kind of hands that allow him to make the most difficult catches under the most challenging circumstances. 3. Odell Beckham Jr., New York Giants vs. Tampa Bay Bucs – 15.5 points From this corner, it seems like ODB is all about making highlight-film plays and not necessarily doing every little thing that helps the Giants win. If Beckham has been on your fantasy team the last couple of years, you probably agree. However, you are going to keep him on your team because he can be dominant when he is on his game, and there’s no reason that will not be the case against the Tampa Bay. 4. Tyreek Hill, Kansas City Chiefs at Los Angeles Rams – 14.4 points The Rams have been quite vulnerable on defense the last two weeks, and that means an explosive receiver like Hill should be able to exploit this unit. Hill is one of the fastest players in the game and he should be able to find some open spaces in the Los Angeles secondary. 5. Brandin Cooks, Los Angeles Rams vs. Kansas City Chiefs – 13.6 points The  Rams suffered a huge blow with the season-ending injury suffered by wideout Cooper Kupp, and it could keep them from meeting all their goals. Cooks and Robert Woods must step up their games, and look for Cooks to be the more productive of the two against the Chiefs. Tight ends 1. Travis Kelce, Kansas City Chiefs at Los Angeles Rams – 11.3 points There has been an unofficial changing of the guard at the tight end position this season because Rob Gronkowski has been hurt recently and unable to play as consistently as Kelce. Look for Kelce to have a huge game against the Rams. 2. Zach Ertz, Philadelphia Eagles vs. New Orleans Saints – 10.9 points The Saints have been rolling and their defense has been playing well, but that area is where they are most vulnerable. Ertz has more talent than the Saints defensive backfield, and he should have a huge game here. 3. Jimmy Graham, Green Bay Packers at Seattle Seahawks – 8.7 points This may have been the game that Graham has been waiting for since the start of the season. He should be getting ready for some peak appearances and he would love to do it against his former team. Graham has caught 33-439-2, and he will build on those figures against Seattle. 4. O.J. Howard, Tampa Bay Bucs at N.Y. Giants – 7.9 points The Bucs are coming off a horrific game against the Redskins in which they were held to a field goal. They had more than 500 yards of offense the previous week, and look for Howard to put his imprint on this game with at least one TD catch. 5. Jordan Reed, Washington Redskins vs. Houston Texans– 7.8 points Reed should be able to get open in this game and while the Texans have the more athletic team, the Redskins have the size advantage. Reed is Washington’s leading receiver, and he should be able to get into the end zone against Houston.

Durant’s Double Double Lifts Warriors Over Nets

(AP) — Kevin Durant had 28 points and 11 assists, Quinn Cook scored a season-high 27 in place of injured Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors used another big run in the third quarter to pull away and beat the Brooklyn Nets 116-100 on Saturday. Klay Thompson added 24 points on an uneven shooting night while Damian Jones had eight points and six rebounds for the Warriors. Two days after losing Curry to a groin injury in a 23-point home loss to Milwaukee, Golden State bounced back with little problem while their leading scorer sat at home watching. Draymond Green was also missing from Steve Kerr’s lineup but Durant made both absences a moot point while ending Brooklyn’s three-game winning streak. The nine-time All-Star had 13 points in the first quarter, scored the final six of the second then came up big again in the third when the Warriors led by as many as 20. Cook was pretty good, too. Signed on a two-way contract a year ago when he made 18 starts while Curry was out with ankle and knee injuries, Cook looked just as comfortable this time around. He made his first seven shots and matched Durant with 19 points in the first half, then made a shot-clock beating 19-footer in the third to push the Warriors lead to 103-81. Golden State needed it on a night when their other Splash Brother, Thompson, had an off night shooting. Thompson made four of his first five shots but finished 11 of 20. Joe Harris scored 24 points for the Nets. Spencer Dinwiddie added 14 points and six assists and DeAngelo Russell had 12 points. TIP-INS Nets: Brooklyn has lost eight straight to Golden State. The Nets haven’t won our consecutive games since a six-game streak in 2014-15. Fantasy Football Preview: Top 10 Tight Ends

Ryan Mayer Tight ends are often a forgotten about part of the fantasy football formula. Outside of Gronk and Travis Kelce, fantasy owners tend to assume that the rest of the guys are all pretty much the same. While it’s true they won’t garner nearly as many points as WRs or RBs, a consistent TE, who can get you 6-8 points every week, is a huge boost towards winning your league. The top names for this year remain the same as expected, but be sure to take a look outside of those top two guys for some players to keep in mind later in the draft. As always, the projections below are based on CBSSports.com’s projection system for the upcoming season for standard scoring only. If you’re looking for PPR projections, head here . Positions | QB | RB | WR | Credit: ANGELA WEISS/AFP/Getty Images 1) Rob Gronkowski, New England Patriots After some offseason drama over whether he would retire or not, Gronk is back in Foxborough for another year of snatching footballs and bowling over defenders. With a depleted wide receiver corps, Gronk could see even more targets within the offense this year, making for some high-total potential. Based on the projections, he grades out basically as a top-15 WR option and, of course, the top tight end. CBSSports.com Projections- 144 Fantasy Points (9 FPPG) 77 receptions, 1,080 yards 7 TDs 2) Travis Kelce, Kansas City Chiefs Kelce isn’t quite Gronk, but he’s close. He will also likely benefit this season from being the security blanket for Patrick Mahomes, as the first-time starter gets more comfortable at the NFL level. Quite the security blanket to have, as Kelce has put up back-to-back 80+-reception, 1,000+-yard seasons. CBSSports.com Projections- 136 Fantasy Points (8.5 FPPG) 88 receptions, 1,020 yards 7 TDs Credit: Elsa/Getty Images 3) Zach Ertz, Philadelphia Eagles While Ertz won’t see as many targets as the pair of guys above him, he’s become a favorite of QB Carson Wentz and backup Nick Foles. In the past three years, he’s been remarkably consistent, catching between 74-78 passes for 800-850 yards. The biggest spike last year was in the touchdown total, as he posted eight, which is a career high. That number can be considered an outlier however, as prior to last year, he had never posted more than four. CBSSports.com Projections- 109 Fantasy Points (6.8 FPPG) 76 receptions, 812 yards 6 TDs 4) Evan Engram, New York Giants Engram put up strong numbers as a rookie after nearly the entirety of the receiving corps got injured. He was targeted 111 times, with 64 catches, over 700 yards and six touchdowns. You’d like to see that catch rate come up, particularly given the likelihood of fewer targets with OBJ back and Saquon Barkley added to the backfield. Still, the projections have him as a strong option in his sophomore campaign. CBSSports.com Projections- 97 Fantasy Points (6 FPPG) 68 receptions, 739 yards 5 TDs 5) Jimmy Graham, Green Bay Packers After a couple of seasons in a bit of a misfit role in Seattle, Graham now moves to Green Bay to team up with Aaron Rodgers. He is by far the best tight end that Rodgers has had at his disposal in his career. Graham should get some looks from Rodgers and be able to improve upon his numbers in Seattle. CBSSports.com Projections- 96 Fantasy Points (6 FPPG) 67 catches, 604 yards 8 TDs > > MORE: Fantasy Football Draft Prep Credit: Andy Lyons/Getty Images 6) Delanie Walker, Tennessee Titans A favorite of QB Marcus Mariota, Walker is entering his 13th year, so time will begin to catch up to him at some point. But the projections for this year see him having another solid season, and the chemistry that he’s developed with the young franchise QB suggests that is likely. CBSSports.com Projections- 93 Fantasy Points (5.8 FPPG) 68 receptions, 785 yards 4 TDs 7) Kyle Rudolph, Minnesota Vikings Rudolph doesn’t get as much acclaim as the wide receiver duo of Thielen and Diggs, but when given the targets, he’s produced. His best season came in 2016, when he was targeted 132 times, caught 83 of those passes, for 840 yards and seven touchdowns. Last season, the targets dropped dramatically to just 81, but still Rudolph caught eight touchdowns. An effective, big, red-zone target, Rudolph should be new QB Kirk Cousins’ best friend this season. CBSSports.com Projections- 92 Fantasy Points (5.7 FPPG) 64 receptions, 605 yards 7 TDs Credit: Streeter Lecka/Getty Images 8) Greg Olsen, Carolina Panthers Olsen has been the most reliable pass-catcher that Cam Newton has had available to him in his career. Unfortunately, Olsen missed more than half the season last year with injuries, breaking a streak of nine straight seasons of playing in every game. This year, the 33-year-old is likely to see fewer touches simply because the Panthers now have more weapons for Cam to use. But he’ll still get looks due to his chemistry with Cam. CBSSports.com Projections- 89 Fantasy Points (5.6 FPPG) 61 receptions, 731 yards 4 TDs 9) Jordan Reed, Washington Redskins Reed’s athleticism is on par with the top tight ends in this league, but there’s one major red flag: injury history. He has yet to play a full 16-game season in his career. The past two seasons, he’s played just 18 total games, but in those games, he’s brought in 93 catches for 897 yards and eight touchdowns. That would be a top-three type of season if he stayed healthy and did it in one year. Projections for him are slightly lower, but again, buyer beware with the injury history. CBSSports.com Projections- 82 Fantasy Points (5.1 FPPG) 64 receptions, 640 yards 4 TDs 10) Trey Burton, Chicago Bears Burton became famous in February for his role in the “Philly Special,” winning the hearts of Philly fans forever. The Eagles didn’t have the money to re-sign him, and the Bears pounced, bringing him in on a four-year $32 million contract. Burton will be the starter for the first time in his career, and he’s paired with a young QB in Mitch Trubisky. New head coach Matt Nagy was the offensive coordinator in K.C. where Travis Kelce was heavily used, and Burton could see himself in that role. CBSSports.com Projections- 76 Fantasy Points (4.8 FPPG) 57 receptions, 595 yards 4 TDs

Fantasy Football Preview: Top 10 Wide Receivers

Ryan Mayer While running backs are generally the first few players off the board in standard leagues, top-tier wide receivers can be a huge value if you have one of the later first-round picks in a snake draft. This offers you the opportunity to double up on pass-catching machines and can be a big boost to your roster overall. With draft dates being set and draft orders being selected, you probably know where you stand. The guys below could still be there late in the first round or early in the second. As we’ve noted before, the rankings below are based on CBSSports.com’s projection system for standard leagues only. PPR, particularly for receivers, is a whole different ball game, and you can find those CBSSports.com rankings here . Let’s begin. Positions | QB | RB | Credit: Justin K. Aller/Getty Images 1) Antonio Brown, Pittsburgh Steelers Brown is far and away the number-one receiver option in both styles of leagues. Last year, he posted 101 receptions for 1,533 yards and nine touchdowns, totaling 201 standard points, and you can tell the PPR value was high there as well. This season, CBSSports.com expects Brown to top even that ridiculously high number of fantasy points, making him not only the top receiver, but likely a top-five pick in most drafts. CBSSports.com Projection- 203 Fantasy Points (12.7 FPPG) 108 receptions, 1,538 yards and 10 TDs 2) DeAndre Hopkins, Houston Texans As much as we sang the praises of Antonio Brown above, can you guess who actually put up more fantasy points last season? Yep, that would be Hopkins, who did so despite having Deshaun Watson for only seven games and playing the other nine with the motley crew of Tom Savage and T.J. Yates. He posted 205 fantasy points last season, which is why this year’s projection seems surprisingly low. My guess would be that the projection system is expecting Will Fuller, Bruce Ellington and others to siphon away some of Hopkins’ targets. CBSSports.com Projection- 166 Fantasy Points (10.4 FPPG) 88 receptions, 1,246 yards and 9 TDs 3) Julio Jones, Atlanta Falcons Jones and the Falcons are currently at odds over his contract situation, which means he’s missing training camp time. However, I wouldn’t expect that to affect his performance much once the season rolls around. If anything, he could be healthier, having not played in preseason games. Jones ranked fourth among receivers last year in CBSSports.com’s scoring system with 155 total fantasy points, and the projections are higher for this year. CBSSports.com Projection- 162 Fantasy Points (10.1 FPPG) 97 receptions, 1,387 yards and 5 TDs Credit: Harry How/Getty Images 4) Keenan Allen, Los Angeles Charges Finally fully healthy last year, Allen put up monster numbers for L.A. He finished with 102 receptions for 1,393 yards and six touchdowns, while being targeted 159 (!) times. That kind of heavy target load shouldn’t decrease much, as the Mike Williams is still unproven and Travis Benjamin is simply average. The projection system is pegging him to finish with right around the same numbers from last season. CBSSports.com Projection- 161 Fantasy Points (10 FPPG) 104 receptions, 1,353 yards and 6 TDs 5) Davante Adams, Green Bay Packers Adams became the Packers’ number-one option last season, racking up 74 catches on 117 targets for 885 yards and 10 touchdowns. That’s all without Aaron Rodgers for over half the season. This year, with a healthy Rodgers, and Adams being the go-to guy among his weapons, you should expect a solid season from the fifth-year receiver. CBSSports.com Projection- 152 Fantasy Points (9.5 FPPG) 87 receptions, 1,017 yards and 10 TDs > > MORE: Fantasy Football Draft Prep 6) T.Y. Hilton, Indianapolis Colts Hilton’s numbers dropped significantly last season without Andrew Luck, but that’s understandable. With Luck reportedly returning to full health, and Hilton the only truly proven option in the receiving corps, the projection system is calling for a resurgence. CBSSports.com Projection- 149 Fantasy Points (9.3 FPPG) 79 receptions, 1,139 yards and 7 TDs Credit: Stephen Maturen/Getty Images 7) Michael Thomas, New Orleans Saints Thomas posted higher totals in both the receptions (104) and yardage (1,245) department in his sophomore season in 2017, though his TD numbers dropped a bit with Alvin Kamara siphoning away red-zone opportunities. Still, Thomas is a top option at the wide receiver spot, and the projections have him falling almost in line with last year’s numbers. CBSSports.com Projection- 148 Fantasy Points (9.2 FPPG) 102 receptions 1,199 yards and 6 TDs 8) Odell Beckham Jr., New York Giants OBJ’s injury derailed his season in 2017, and caused fantasy owners frustration in the process. When healthy, he’s a dominant and explosive option capable of putting up a big day any given week. With rookie running back Saquon Barkley in the fold, defenses have someone else to worry about and won’t be able to focus as much attention on Beckham, leading to potentially more explosive plays. In the final year of his rookie deal, you know he’ll want to show out to prove he deserves a big-money extension. CBSSports.com Projections- 148 Fantasy Points (9.2 FPPG) 103 receptions, 1,167 yards and 7 TDs 9) A.J. Green, Cincinnati Bengals Green had a typically solid season in 2017, despite a bad year overall for the Bengals. He hauled in 75 receptions for 1,078 yards and eight touchdowns, in spite of brutal play from the rest of the offense and a largely ineffective Andy Dalton. Cincy brought in some offensive-line help this offseason which should theoretically give Dalton more time and allow him to be more accurate when targeting Green. Either way, Green has proven capable of putting up big numbers. CBSSports.com Projections- 146 Fantasy Points (9.1 FPPG) 95 receptions for 1,229 yards and 6 TDs Credit: Jamie Squire/Getty Images 10) Stefon Diggs, Minnesota Vikings Diggs’ most memorable moment last season was the Minnesota Miracle to beat the New Orleans Saints and allow the Vikings to advance to the NFC Championship Game. That overshadowed a regular season in which he put up a career-high in touchdowns (8) despite 20 fewer receptions and 17 fewer targets. He has a new QB in Kirk Cousins to develop chemistry with, but the projections are high on Diggs, having him round out the top 10. CBSSports.com Projections- 144 Fantasy Points, (9 FPPG) 86 receptions, 1,057 yards and 8 TDs

As the team gets ready for the regular season, all eyes will be on the competition to see which signal caller will start the season behind center. Will it be the veteran journeyman Josh McCown? Will it be the comeback kid Teddy Bridgewater? Could Gang Green throw the number three overall pick Sam Darnold into the mix right away? Only time will tell, but the battle will be fought once the team kicks off training camp on July 26. WHEN AND WHERE: AHJTC IN FLORHAM PARK Club/PSL season ticket holders will have the chance to see the team practice for the first time at the Atlantic Health Jets Training Center on Saturday, July 28, 2018. AHJTC is located at 1 Jets Drive in Florham Park, New Jersey . For each of the four days, parking opens at 1:00 p.m., gates to the facility open at 1:30 p.m., and practice begins at 2:15 p.m. Members who are interested in attending should call (800) 469-JETS (5387). Unfortunately for non-season ticket holding fans, each of the public practice dates  are sold out to the general public due to high demand. LOS ANGELES (CBSLA/AP) — Amazon is extending its annual “Prime Day” promotion to 36 hours this year and will try to lure more deal-seekers to the aisles of Whole Foods. Shoppers will have plenty of sales to choose from as other retailers offer promotions to try to take a share of the spending. This year’s sales event, which starts Monday afternoon, will be six hours longer than last year’s and will launch new products. Amazon hopes to keep Prime attractive for current and would-be subscribers after raising the annual membership fee by 20 percent to $119 and to $12.99 for the month-to-month option. Making Prime Day last even longer “ratchets up the pressure on all of retail” to roll out heavy promotions “in hopes of attracting shoppers and dollars,” said Charlie O’Shea, lead retail analyst at Moody’s. Macy’s, for instance, was promoting a “Black Friday in July” event, and eBay kicked off more than a hundred deals. Here’s a look at what’s happening this year: WHOLE FOODS IN THE MIX: The Seattle-based company is offering Prime members who spend $10 at Whole Foods from July 11-17 a $10 Amazon credit to use on Prime Day. And at its more than a dozen Amazon Books stores, discounts will expand beyond devices. IT’S LONGER: After extending the daylong event to 30 hours in 2017, this year’s Prime Day will be 36 hours long, starting at 3 p.m. ET Monday. Brantley’s Homer Lifts Indians Over Yankees

CLEVELAND (AP) — Michael Brantley homered leading off the eighth inning, and the Cleveland Indians headed into the All-Star break with a 5-2 win over the New York Yankees on Sunday to split their four-game series. One of six Cleveland players who will be in Washington for Tuesday’s All-Star Game, Brantley broke a 2-2 tie by belting a pitch from Chad Green (5-2) into the seats in right for his 12th homer. The Indians added two more runs in the inning on a sacrifice fly by Yan Gomes and Green’s wild pitch. The right-hander was available after pitching only five innings in Wednesday night’s 19-4 blowout of Cincinnati. Cody Allen struck out two in the ninth and got his 20th save in 21 opportunities, and Cleveland’s win ended with the Indians worrying about Edwin Encarnacion. Cleveland’s cleanup hitter homered in the fourth inning, but had to leave in the eighth after being hit on the right hand by a pitch. However, Indians manager Terry Francona said the slugger “is fine.” “It got the meat of the hand, fortunately,” Francona said. “That was a big sigh of relief.” Neil Walker homered for the Yankees, who enter the break 29 games over .500 and have the majors’ second-best record. However, the Yankees are trailing the scorching Boston Red Sox in the AL East. Aaron Judge struck out three times against All-Star Trevor Bauer, and Giancarlo Stanton fanned twice for New York. Bauer held the Yankees in check for seven innings, limiting the Bronx Bombers to two runs and seven hits. The right-hander will not pitch on Tuesday at Nationals Park unless the game goes to extra innings and Houston manager A.J. Hinch runs out of arms. New York’s Masahiro Tanaka was just as good, allowing two runs and six hits in his second start since coming off the disabled list. He’s unbeaten in his last 11 starts stretching back to April 17. The Indians are familiar with Tanaka, who pitched seven shutout innings and beat them in Game 3 of last year’s Division Series. The right-hander’s tantalizing split-finger fastball, which appears to be a fastball before dropping before it reaches the plate — can make the most disciplined hitter look foolish. “It’s a tough pitch, man, because you don’t really see spin,” Francona said. “At least with a breaking ball you can see spin. It can make your hair fall out right in the batter’s box.” Tanaka coasted through three innings before Encarnacion tied it 2-2 in the fourth with home run No. 22, a shot onto the pedestrian plaza in left. Brantley walked leading off, and after Tanaka struck out Jose Ramirez looking, Encarnacion jumped on his first pitch. Walker gave the Yankees a 2-0 lead by connecting for his third homer in the fourth, a shot to right that ended an impressive run by Bauer. According to the Indians, Bauer made seven consecutive “quality” starts with eight or more strikeouts in each while allowing no homers, baseball’s second-longest such streak since 1920. Pedro Martinez had a run of eight straight. TRAINER’S ROOM Yankees: C Gary Sanchez homered for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and played seven innings in the first game of his rehab stint. Sanchez, who has been out since June 25 with a strained right groin, is expected to be activated for the first game following the break. The former All-Star has been out with inflammation in his right knee, but he’s progressed to the point where he can pitch in games. Savory Summer Terrine For Your Next Cookout

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Barbecues and cookouts aren’t just for burgers and hot dogs anymore. Summer vegetables deserve a spot on the table as well. Chef and nutritionist Nicolette Pace stopped by with a recipe for savory summer terrine. 1/2 lb eggplant cut into 1/4″ slices 1 l olive oil 1 cup roasted red peppers, minced 2 cups 1 package frozen artichoke hearts (9oz) chopped 2 package 2 eggs 1 lb ground chicken 1.5 pound 3/4 cup heavy cream 1 cup ricotta 1.5 cup ricotta 2 garlic cloves 3 shallots or 1/3 c chopped red onions with 2 additional garlic cloves 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese 1 Tbsp Dijon mustard 1/2 cup minced green onions and parsley salt pepper nutmeg to taste Grease an 8 cup terrine mold. Sprinkle the green onions and parsley all around. Prepare the eggplant slices by salting them and placing them in a colander for 30 minutes to drain liquid and temper any bitterness. Brush or spray with olive oil and bake for 10 minutes at 400 degrees until just tender. Combine chicken, eggs, mustard, ricotta, Parmesan cheese, garlic, shallots, cream, and seasonings in a food processor until combined. Adjust seasonings to your taste. Layer the meat mixture on top of the green onions and parsley in the terrine. Then top with eggplant slices, then red peppers, then artichoke hearts. alternating until all ingredients have been added. Top with a layer of green onions and parsley. Cover with aluminum foil. Make a small hole in the foil to vent. Set the terrine mold in a pan of hot water so that it reaches halfway up the sides of the mold. Bake the terrine at 300 degrees for 90 minutes. Meat thermometer should register 150 degrees in the center. Cool to room temperature then place in refrigerator weighted down by 2 pounds. Dried beans or canned items work well. Once chilled, unmold, slice and serve with herbed or flavored mayonnaise.

Man, 74, Threatens Oak Park High School Shutting Campus

OAK PARK (CBSLA)  — The campus of Oak Park High School was closed Wednesday following a threat made on Facebook. Authorities said the threat was made by a 74-year-old man who blames the school for his son’s death. CBS2’s Greg Mills says the man’s son died on June 1 and attended the school decades ago. The threat was taken seriously — the man who allegedly posted it boasted about knowledge of explosives and weapons. Morton Green was arrested in Laughlin, Nevada and faces charges of criminal threats. On July 8, he allegedly posted: “SOME ONE ASKED ME WHAT I PLANNED TO DO FOR THOSE RESPONSIBLE FOR MY SON’S DEATH? THE ANGER I HAVE AND MY KNOWLEDGE OF EXPLOSIVES, AND SHOOTING GIVES ME SO MANY DIFFERENT OPTIONS…THEY TOOK HIS LIFE AWAY, NOW IT IS TIME TO SEE IF THEY STILL THINK IT WAS FUNNY ABUSING MY SON. NO ONE KNOWS THE ANGER AND PAIN I SUFFER NOW AND THEN.” He posted on June 2nd that his youngest son was “found dead yesterday.” Mills says that since that day, there were almost daily postings about politics, his son and his anger with the staff at the high school. What apparently prompted that anger goes back 23 years, Mills reported. An LA Times article refers to a lawsuit filed on behalf of then-14-year-old Robert Green. The lawsuit claims that Green was harassed and ridiculed by football coaches because his hair was too long. Lucky Kellner filed the suit. Calls to Kellner by Mills were not returned. Due to the threatening posts, Oak Park canceled summer activities Wednesday. The school contacted parents and activities resumed Thursday. The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department and Las Vegas Police arrested Green in Laughlin, Nevada. He is awaiting extradition. His bail was set at $100,000.

SAN DIEGO (AP)   — Andrew Toles broke a scoreless tie with an RBI single off Tyson Ross in the seventh inning to help All-Star Ross Stripling and the Los Angeles Dodgers beat San Diego 3-2 on Thursday night and take three of four from the last-place Padres. Ross took a one-hit shutout into the seventh before it fell apart. Chris Taylor doubled with one out and manager Andy Green came out to check on the big right-hander. Green let Ross stay in, but he allowed Toles’ single on his 101st pitch and was pulled. Craig Stammen loaded the bases by hitting Enrique Hernandez and Chase Utley with pitches before pinch-hitter Matt Kemp, voted to start in the All-Star Game, singled to bring in Toles. Hernandez was thrown out trying to score from second. Joc Pederson followed with an RBI single. Stripling (8-2) held the Padres to six hits in six scoreless innings, struck out five and walked one. He was added to the NL All-Star roster Wednesday in place of St. Louis right-hander Miles Mikolas, who is scheduled to start Sunday. All-Star closer Kenley Jansen pitched the ninth for his 26th save. San Diego’s Wil Myers hit a two-run double off Scott Alexander with two outs in the seventh. The runs were charged to Daniel Hudson, who walked Austin Hedges leading off the inning and then allowed a single to pinch-hitter Franmil Reyes before making way for Alexander. Ross no doubt boosted his trade value after two rough starts. He has been rumored to be on the trading block, along with All-Star closer Brad Hand. Ross (5-8) allowed two runs and three hits, struck out five and walked three. ROSTER MOVE The Padres optioned rookie left-hander Joey Lucchesi to Triple-A El Paso and recalled catcher Raffy Lopez. That will allow Lucchesi to make a minor league start during the All-Star break and then it’s expected he’ll be recalled and put in the back end of the rotation. He lasted only four innings in a 4-2 loss Wednesday night. UP NEXT Dodgers: RHP Walker Buehler (4-2, 3.44 ERA) is scheduled to start the opener of the second round of the Freeway Series against the Angels at Dodger Stadium on Friday night. It’ll be his first start since being placed on the 10-day DL with right ribcage soreness on June 29. The Angels will go with Felix Pena (1-0, 3.63).
