LOS ANGELES (CBSNewYork) — The Los Angeles Police Department says an armed shooting suspect has barricaded himself with hostages inside a Trader Joe’s in the Silver Lake neighborhood. Police said the suspect, believed to be in his teens, got into a family dispute Saturday, during which he shot his grandmother and another female. He was then involved in a police chase and officer-involved shooting, police said. NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Police were searching late Friday night for a man who escaped arrest in SoHo. It happened around 7:25 p.m. near Spring Street and Broadway. The escapee was described as a black man, last seen wearing a white shirt, blue pants and blue Nike sneakers. Sources told CBS2 he was in the process of being arrested for petite larceny. NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – Police are investigating an attempted abduction Saturday on Staten Island. It happened around 5:20 p.m. at Mapleton Avenue and Olympia Boulevard. Police said a driver pulled up in a black Prius and tried to take a 4-year-old girl from her stroller. The mother fought back, and the driver took off. The suspect was described as an Asian man. NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – A fire claimed the life of a 95-year-old woman Saturday in Brooklyn. The FDNY responded to a house fire around 3 p.m. on East 93rd Street in Canarsie. Once the flames were out, firefighters discovered the bedridden woman in the basement. The victim’s daughter told CBS2’s Reena Roy she tried to get her out but the smoke was too heavy.
