By Giorgio Panetta CBS2 Chief Meteorologist/Weather Producer Starting off today warm, albeit a little sticky. The humidity will start to disappear though as the day continues. Temperatures will drop slightly today from yesterday but the heat is still sticking around. We will reach high 80s. There will be a few more clouds in the sky but there will still be plenty of sunshine to go around. Winds will pick up a bit during the afternoon hours but it won’t be too breezy. CBS2 Hurricane Chris is still making its way up the Atlantic, so rip current risk will remain moderate to high so be safe! CBS2 The rest of the day is looking just fine! By tonight, the humidity will be back down to comfortable levels. The 7-day is marvelous so enjoy the rest of the week!
afternoon
Mark McIntyre CBS2 Meteorologists/Weather Producer What a great start to the week! We’re off to a mild start this morning with temperatures in the 60s, on the rise through the day as we approach almost 90 degrees! Although, what’s different from last week, is that humidity won’t be as high so it will actually be enjoyable for many people. CBS2 During the afternoon, winds will pick up a bit, bringing a gentle breeze to complement the high temperatures. They will start to slow as temperatures come down a little by the evening. There is an air quality alert in place until 11 PM so take precautionary measures with outdoor activity, especially if you have respiratory problems. CBS2 High pressure is really taking over this week, not only with temperatures but also with dry conditions. CBS2 The only day we are looking at a rain chance is on Tuesday, but that won’t even be a complete wash out. It will clear out by Wednesday and we will continue on with the bright week…. something to look forward to!

Department Of Buildings Orders Removal Of Illegal Brooklyn Parking Lot After Death Of Girl, 4
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — The New York City Department of Buildings on Friday ordered a Brooklyn laundromat to remove an illegal parking where a young girl was fatally struck by a vehicle last month. A memorial continued to grow in Bushwick where four-year-old Luz Gonzalez was hit and killed by an SUV attempting to leave Clean City Laundry the afternoon of June 24. MORE: 4-Year-Old Girl Killed, Mom Hurt In Hit-And-Run Outside Brooklyn Laundromat Gruesome surveillance video shows the final moments of little Luz’s life. The child was on her scooter on the sidewalk between the laundromat’s private parking spaces and Hart Street when it appears the child’s shoe fell off. Her mother is seen bending down to put it back on when they were both struck by a black SUV. Police say the woman driving the vehicle was backing out of a laundromat parking spot and didn’t see the child or her mother. Luz was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say the woman drove off but officers caught up with her two blocks away. Officials didn’t charge her with a crime. Residents say they’ve complained about the parking lot before because cars have no driveway across to the street, forcing people to drive perilously onto the sidewalk to park. The DOB called for the immediate removal of the parking lot, which the NYPD already has blocked off.
