NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Crews are on the scene of a water main break on the Upper West Side. It happened around 2 a.m. Tuesday on Central Park West between West 87th and 88th streets. The water has now been shut off. Earlier, the West 86th Street subway took on some water. That station is currently closed for renovation, but subway pumps have kept water off the tracks. The break flooded out basements in two nearby buildings and power has been shut off to those buildings. Southbound traffic on Central Park West is also closed as repairs continue.

MAE SAI, Thailand (CBSNewYork) — For the third day, divers in Thailand are attempting to rescue the remaining people trapped in a flooded cave . CBS News reports that the ninth, tenth, and eleventh people to be rescued from the cave were seen being carried out to a field Tuesday to be transported to the hospital. The goal is to bring out the final four boys and their soccer coach as well as three Thai Navy SEALS and a doctor who have watching over them since the team was found. MORE FROM CBS NEWS Four boys were rescued Sunday and another four were brought to the surface on Monday. Some of the divers, whose job has been to place oxygen tanks along the treacherous underwater route, say visibility is near zero and the path is extremely risky . “We could see only our hands a short distance. The stones are razor sharp, which are dangerous for our diving,” one diver said. “Thirdly, the passage is very narrow. This is the hardest mission we’ve ever done.” The challenging mission involved each of the boys wearing a full dive mask as a diver leads the way carrying their oxygen tank while being guided by a rope. A second diver follows behind. From start to finish, the journey is two-and-a-half miles. One of the most dangerous parts of the trek is a pinch point that us just 15 inches across where the boys have to separate from the divers to fit through. The rescued boys have been rushed by ambulances and helicopter to a hospital 60 miles away from the cave. Doctors are keeping them in isolation to monitor for infection. It took 11 hours to get the first group of four out Sunday. The second group made it through in about nine hours. The head of the operation says Tuesday’s mission will likely take longer because they are attempting to bring more people out.

RIVERSIDE (CBSLA) — Four of a woman’s five show horses have died in the past six months. Koreen Greenberg says when she brought her land in Riverside County 15 years ago, it was the perfect place for her Friesian show horses. “It was sanctuary, it used to be all orange groves. When I purchased the house there were only three homes on this street, and it was a little dirt road,” Greenberg says. She told KCAL9’s Tina Patel she knew development was inevitable but she didn’t expect tracts of homes to be build so close to her property line and she didn’t anticipate the hillsides would be completely re-graded. “Building a home next door would have been no problem, not an issue with that. I would have liked to been forewarned that they were going to change the elevation and the type of equipment that was going to be brought in, so I could have removed the horses from the premises,” she says. Her vet tech believes the constant constructionn noise and vibration stressed out the horses and made them too weak to move. Four of her five horses died in the past six months. “We tried, we tried everything from putting them on preventative medication, by putting visual blocks, by stuffing the ears with cotton,” Greenberg says. “The last one, we just lost last week. He was a five-time world champion. The one prior to that, 22 world titles.” Greenberg wishes developers had communicated with her better and she wishes they had more consideration for homeowners like herself. With Louis being the lone survivor, all she can do is try to keep him safe. “As soon as his stomach is okay,” Greenberg says, “we’re going to transport him out. and hopefully the final phase will be done.” Patel reached out to the developers — D. R. Horton — but wasn’t able to find out if they were aware of the situation with Greenberg. She told Patel she knows nothing will bring her horses back but hopes in the future there will be more cooperation between developers and homeowners already living in the neighborhood.
