MASON, Ohio (CBS Local) — A teenager’s email account was hacked after a fellow “Fortnite” player convinced him to hand over his username and password under the guise of offering help. A news station in Ohio reports 13-year-old Jake Bates, of Mason, Ohio, was chatting with another player while playing the popular video game. The player told Bates that he could give him more skins for his character if Bates gave him his username and password, but when the player logged into Bates’ account, he also took over Bates’ email account, changing the passwords, recovery passwords and phone number. Bates said the player also had access to his credit card number and any personal information in his emails. To add insult to injury, the player also killed Bates’ “Fortnite” character. The teen had spent hundreds of dollars on the characters since he started playing the game. “It says on the game not to give your information out and, ya know, I’m like, it’s a lesson learned,” Amy Bates, Jake’s mother, said. Jake and his mother said they have filed a complaint with “Fortnite” developer Epic Games.

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) — Congresswoman Maxine Waters is urging her supporters to not be baited into a confrontation with what she calls an anti-government militia group that is expected to protest at her Los Angeles district office Thursday. “I am requesting those individuals and groups planning a counter-protest to not be baited into confronting the Oath Keepers with any demonstrations in opposition – such an occurrence would only exacerbate tensions and increase the potential for conflict,” Waters said in a statement she released Wednesday. Please read my statement on the Oath Keepers' planned protest at my district office tomorrow. pic.twitter.com/1ZALWLaZJS — Maxine Waters (@RepMaxineWaters) July 19, 2018 A far-right group called the Oath Keepers is reportedly planning to demonstrate at Waters’ offices in response to her call for people who are angry about the recent separation of families at the border to confront members of the Trump administration. “The Oath Keepers have a history of engaging in violent and provocative behavior. The group is known to protest in military-style clothing while carrying various assault weapons,” Waters’ statement said. “The Oath Keepers would like nothing more to inflame racial tensions and create an explosive conflict in our community.” Counter-protesters have gathered outside Congresswoman Maxine Waters office ahead of a protest by the Oath Keepers. The militia group is upset by comments Rep. Waters made about confronting the Trump administration. LAPD officers are also on hand. pic.twitter.com/jjNU5G2T77 — Kandiss Crone (@KandissCroneTV) July 19, 2018 The group is known for its heavily-armed members showing up wherever the national spotlight happens to be shining at that moment, like in Ferguson, Mo. on the anniversary of Michael Brown’s fatal shooting by police. Earlier this year, there was a call for members to stand armed guards outside schools after the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center. Waters says Los Angeles Police officers and personnel will be on site to ensure safety and security at her office.

SARASOTA, Fla. (CBS Local) – A 71-year-old man has died after eating raw oysters in a Florida restaurant. Health officials say the customer was exposed to a bacterial infection known as Vibrio vulnificus and died just two days after visiting the Sarasota eatery. “We have an individual that consumed some raw oysters and to the best of our knowledge had no exposure to salt water, became severely ill, and passed away,” Michael Drennon of the Sarasota County Health Dept. said, via WJAX . Vibrio vulnificus bacteria is found in raw or undercooked shell fish, especially during the summer months when salt water temperatures are higher. Health officials warn against eating raw shell fish or swimming in salt water with open wounds. The CDC says that Vibrio vulnificus causes 80,000 illnesses each year in the United States. About 52,000 of those illnesses are believed to be caused by eating contaminated food. While most cases are mild, the infection can become serious and lead to limb amputation or death within days of encountering the flesh-eating bacteria. Florida’s health department reports that there have been 16 cases of Vibriosis in the state this year and three patients have died.

FAIRFAX DISTRICT (CBSLA) – Less than a week after a LeBron James mural in Venice was vandalized , a second similar mural has gone up in the Fairfax District. (John Schreiber/CBS2) Earlier this month, a mural went up on the side of Baby Blue Barbecue at 444 Lincoln Blvd. in Venice almost immediately after James signed his new $154 million deal with the Lakers. However, it drew the ire of some Lakers fans who don’t believe James has earned a mural yet. They vandalized it with messages including “We don’t want you,” “LeFraud,” “No King” and “3-6,” James’ record in the NBA Finals. One of the artists initially repainted the mural, before removing it completely last week. However, on Wednesday, a new LeBron James mural went up on Melrose Avenue and North Ogden Drive in the Fairfax District. This one includes LeBron in a Lakers jersey, looking up at several Laker legends including Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O’Neal, Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Wilt Chamberlain.

Studio City, Calif. (CBSLA/CBS Local) — Here’s a story…of a lovely listing. The Studio City home known as “The Brady Bunch house” because its exteriors were used on the show is on the market for the first time in nearly 50 years. The two-bedroom, three-bathroom home in the 11200 block of Dilling Street, adjacent to the Los Angeles River, is being offered for nearly $1.9 million, according to agent Ernie Carswell. He says the home is “the second most photographed home in the United States after the White House.” The home was last sold in 1973 for $60,000. Several homes in the area have been demolished recently, so the owners will give preference to bidders who want to keep the home intact, Carswell told the Los Angeles Times. “The Brady Bunch” aired between 1969 and 1974.
