NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Police released surveillance video Thursday of a suspect after a man was slashed in the face at a bodega in Williamsburg, Brooklyn earlier in the week. Around 9:50 a.m. Tuesday, the victim, a 53-year-old man, was in the D&G Deli near Division Avenue and Berry Street when the suspect walked in and began chatting him up, police said. At some point during the conversation, the suspect took out an unknown object and slashed him in the face, police said. Danny Rodriguez was behind the counter at the time , and said the victim had been sent into the store and had spent a small amount of money the wrong way – only to pay for it in blood. “There was a guy that sent another guy to buy something in the store for $2.25, but the guy stayed in the store and spent it on something else,” Rodriguez told 1010 WINS’ Al Jones. Witnesses reported a muffled scream and a lot of blood in the incident. “Had a blade on the hand and he slashed him in the face three times,” he said. The victim was treated and released from Woodhull Medical Center, police said. Anyone with information was asked to call the NYPD Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS, log onto the Crime Stoppers website , or text tips to 274637 (CRIMES) and enter TIP577.
