PHOTOS: The Wedding Of Prince Harry & Meghan Markle As Carlin reported, it’s considered a new era for the royals, with Prince Harry wedding American now-ex-actress Meghan Markle, hailed as boldly modern . “They just really look like they love each other, which I think is the best part,” one woman said. Congrats, Meghan and Harry! Keep doing things your way. Britain will never be the same – and that's a good thing. https://t.co/4UYiOCaarN — Bill de Blasio (@NYCMayor) May 19, 2018 At Tea & Sympathy in the West Village, cheers combined with chomping on food that were a royal mystery for some. “I’m trying her ginger cake, and that’s actually really good. This one is just fluffy with the custard that’s super warm, over the top – it’s just fantastic,” Boston tourist Terri Wagner said. Inside the tiny eatery, patrons were from all over. But on every plate, it was English food all the way. “Sticky toffee cupcake, and chocolate cakes, scones, and finger sandwiches,” said a worker. There’s no question the wedding had Brit businesses raking in big bucks. “I think it does have an effect. This place was very difficult to get into today. There was a line outside the door,” Diana Naples, of Greenwich Village, said. As people ate and cheered, they also reminisced, feeling so much happiness for Harry, who at the tender age of 12 lost his mother, Princess Diana , in a car crash, Carlin reported. Now, they see love in his and her eyes, and New Yorkers say, ‘hooray.’

LONDON (CBSNewYork) – All eyes are on Meghan Markle and what she’ll wear during her royal wedding to Prince Harry on Saturday, but details about her dress are top-secret. Will she or won’t she wear a tiara? It’s a princess bride tradition, but tradition isn’t exactly her thing. CBS2’s Ali Bauman visited the royal family’s official crown jeweler Friday to check out some of her options. “That is a rule that’s there to be broken and has been broken even by the royals,” said Clair Scott, a designer for House of Garrard. Bauman found out firsthand that wearing a white gold crown encrusted with upwards of 600 diamonds can make you nervous to move even an inch. So why have tiaras stood the test of time in royal fashion? “I think they’re just so synonymous with when you think of a princess, you always think of a tiara, don’t you?” Scott said. Unlike a crown, you don’t have to be royalty to wear a tiara. “When you try it on, it makes you stand a bit taller, it makes you feel more regal,” said Scott. With a starting price around 50,000 pounds for a House of Garrard tiara, you do need to have deep pockets. “They’re quite a personal item, I think, the tiara. When you commission one, it has to be a piece very special to you,” Scott said. But if money is not an object or you’re a princess with a fancy for tiaras, there’s no limit on how many you can collect. “They sky’s the limit. You can have as many tiaras in your collection as you want,” said Scott. If Markle chooses not to wear a tiara, she won’t be the first princess bride to do so. Whatever she decides to wear is expected to dictate fashion trends for seasons and seasons to come.
WINDSOR, England (CBSNewYork) – She’s everywhere people look in the British Town of Windsor. “It’s everyone’s dream to be an American princess, so Meghan Markle is living our dream,” said Melissa Padlowsky of Pittsburg. Thousands of people have traveled from around the world to catch a glimpse of 36-year-old Californian actress Meghan Markle and Prince Harry when they parade around the castle after Saturday’s wedding ceremony, reports CBS2’s Ali Bauman. “In the whole run up to the wedding Meghan and Harry have been very clear they want to celebrate with the public ,” said Samantha Conti, WWD London Bureau Chief. The bride is branching away from several royal traditions. She decided against having bridesmaids, and after announcing her father will not be at the wedding only days before, Meghan asked Prince Charles to walk her down the aisle instead. “This is going say to the world that she is part of our family,” said Lesley Clark of Houston. “She’s had a life, she’s had a career, she’s had a husband before,” said Conti. “She’s very much her own person.” To her fans, Meghan is a modern day bride and a role model. “I think she’s going bring a whole new light to the royal family in a very positive way,” said Katie Morgan of Salt Lake City. To some, the Californian isn’t an English local just quite yet. Susie Oliver, a Long Island native who’s lived in London the past 20 years, offers the bride some advice. “Don’t say things like ‘In America we do it this way,’” she said. Others say Meghan’s strong willed spirit is reminiscent of another princess. “She really comes down to people’s level which is very similar to what Diana was doing,” said Professor Chris Imafidon. Many hope Meghan is not only a perfect match for Prince Harry, but a good addition to England as well. “They’re changing things for the better,” said Leslie Merta of Washington. “They’ll bring it in to the 21st century,” added Kathy Westoin of Tacoma. Meghan isn’t the first royal bride to change the rules. Brides used to wear colorful dresses on their wedding day, and it wasn’t until Queen Victoria chose a white dress that the custom completely changed.

Meghan Markle Seen As Bringing Modern Air To Royal Family
LONDON (CBSNewYork) — With just one day away from American actress Meghan Markle’s royal wedding to Prince Harry, excitement has been building outside Windsor Castle where the streets were buzzing Friday morning. Markle was seen smiling Thursday as she and Harry headed to a dress rehearsal for their big day, CBS2’s Ali Bauman reported. The cake is frosted, the choir is warmed up and everything is ready to go for the long-awaited nuptials. Dressed in the British flag, monarchy devotees have traveled from all around the globe to get a front row seat for the couple’s horse-drawn carriage procession right after the ceremony. Terry Hunt has been camped out since Sunday and he hasn’t been lonely. “The whole idea is to look after each other and to be first,” said Hunt. “I’ve been to all the christenings when the babies been born, I never stopped really.” “Here’s my pillow, here’s my sleeping bag, here’s my bed,” said Bernadette Christie of Canada. “When the colt comes around the corner and everyone cheers and the flags are going and l get my pictures, that’s what I’m looking forward to.” But that’s nothing compared to Carleen Quirks set-up. For the 76-year-old retired accountant from Australia, this is royal wedding number 8. “The first one was Princess Alexandra in 1963,” she said. “It’s just I like the royal family.” Royal watchers Tiffany Alleman and her friends are all in agreement about the bride-to-be. “She has such good style,” said Linsy Hiener from Boise, Idaho. “I think however she comes down the aisle she’s going to be fabulous.” Royal correspondent Roya Nikkhah says the run-up to royal weddings is usually much smoother. “What we’ve heard from Kensington Palace is that far from being debilitated from going on, she’s been trying to carry on as usual,” said Nikkhah. Fans have been camping out for days trying to secure the best spot possible to see the newlyweds during their carriage ride. Michelle Poggi traveled for 24 hours from Australia to be there. “It’s to get front position, you know, it’s history in the making,” she said. “They’re going to be waving, they’re going to be happy. I’m going to see the first joys of wedding.” On Saturday, well-wishers of all ages will line the streets outside Windsor Castle to see that joy. Meanwhile, Kensington Palace announced Friday that Prince Charles will be walking Markle down the aisle after Markle confirmed Thursday that her father would miss the wedding. Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland, is also expected to meet the Queen Friday for the very first time.

WINDSOR, U.K. (CBSNewYork) – Meghan Markle is known for her sculpted jawline and chiseled cheeks. While she may have great genes, she has also credited her toned face to a very special beauty routine. Her fans line up for hours to catch a glimpse of the future princess . Part of her appeal, they say, is her effortless beauty. The 36-year-old clearly has good bone structure, but she’s also credited a specific facial massage for her signature look, CBS2’s Ali Bauman reports. Developed by famed esthetician Nichola Joss , she uses intense muscle work to sculpt the face – from the inside out. “Working inside allows me to really address the muscles,” Joss told Bauman. “When you don’t massage… the muscles get heavy and start to fall.” She said she can retrain those muscles so that over time, they naturally start to lift. “It becomes stronger,” Joss said. “You can definitely manipulate and change the shape of your face.” “The American princess has clearly taken care of herself over time,” said dermatologist Dr. Kavita Mariwalla . “You don’t see any fine lines, no crepiness.” More: Attend A Royal Wedding Without One’s Hat? Why, That’s Just Not Done For the rest of us, though, what can we do to try to achieve that effect? Dr. Mariwalla said there are so many options today in addition to Markle’s favorite facial massage, like botox, for facial contouring. “Injections of botox here and here will actually make you look thinner,” she said. “It will give you more of an angled shape to your face.” Another popular procedure uses high intensity ultrasound to tighten the elastic fibers in the skin. “It will help you get a redefined jawline,” said Dr. Mariwalla. “It will make it look like your cheek bones are higher.” Then, there’s the hydra-facial. This latest technology can give a leaner look in mere minutes by helping to flush the lymphatic fluids that bloat the face. “The puffiness has gone substantially from this side to this,” Dr. Mariwalla said. Finally, clients are lining up for facialates, or Pilates for the face, at Haven Spa. “It’s like you going to (the) gym,” said Stalina Glot . Glot, “the personal trainer of faces,” will put your exterior facial muscles in an upward motion to create an instant, lifted appearance, like that of the royal bride-to-be. “It is possible,” Glot said. All the experts agree, you can make a difference in the shape of your face over time by doing simple massage under the cheek bones and jawline. For more information, click here .

LONDON (CBS News) — Meghan Markle said in a statement released Thursday that her father won’t make her royal wedding to Britain’s Prince Harry on Saturday. In the statement released by Kensington Palace, Prince Harry’s official residence, Markle thanked “everyone who has offered generous messages of support.” “Sadly, my father will not be attending our wedding. I have always cared for my father and hope he can be given the space he needs to focus on his health,” she said. On Monday, Thomas Markle said he was not going to attend his daughter’s wedding after he posed for embarrassing photos in exchange for payment from a paparazzi agency. He told entertainment news website TMZ that he did not want to embarrass his daughter or the royal family and also said he had suffered a heart attack last week. How to watch the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle A day later Markle said he still wanted to walk his daughter down the aisle , but added that his health might not allow it. Conflicting messages about his attendance, all via TMZ, have made news all week. On Tuesday, he told TMZ, “I hate the idea of missing one of the greatest moments in history and walking my daughter down the aisle.” But then it sounded like his plans might be back on; the father of the bride said that if doctors cleared him to fly to the U.K., he’d still try to be at his daughter’s side. But just hours later TMZ reported that he had said he was scheduled for heart surgery Wednesday morning to clear a blockage and insert a stent, making wedding travel “all but impossible.” British tabloid The Daily Mail cast doubt on the heart attack claim, saying it had confirmed that Thomas did not seek medical attention on the day of the reported heart attack but spent “all day” inside his home. Thomas Markle also said that Meghan had tried to call him Monday, but he missed her call. He said she sent him a text saying she loved him and was worried about his health, and that she was not angry about the staged paparazzi photo shoot. It remains unconfirmed who will end up walking Markle down the aisle in Windsor on Saturday, but most royal watchers believe it will be her mother Doria Ragland, who is close to her daughter and is said to have liked Prince Harry when she met him. Ragland will be stay with her daughter at a nearby hotel the night before the wedding, and then accompany her to the church on Saturday morning. While uncommon, there is precedent for a royal bride to be walked down the aisle on wedding day; Queen Victoria carried out the duty for two of her daughters, Princess Helena in 1866 and Princess Beatrice in 1885.
