NEW YORK (CBSNews/AP) — Facebook lost about $119 billion of its value on Thursday, marking the biggest one-day loss in U.S. market history. The company’s shares plunged $41.24, or almost 19 percent, to $176.26 a day after the social media giant reported disappointing results. The slide is the largest decline in market capitalization in history, exceeding Intel’s $91 billion single-day loss in September 2000, according to Bloomberg data. Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg saw his fortune drop by $15.9 billion to roughly $71 billion. His personal loss alone, if only on paper, exceeds the value of companies such as Molson Coors and Macy’s, which have market values of $14 billion and $12 billion, respectively. Investors were spooked by Facebook’s forecast showing that its number of active users is growing less quickly than expected, while the company also took a hit from Europe’s new privacy laws. The report, which marked Facebook’s first full quarter since the Cambridge Analytica scandal , startled investors with a bevy of red flags about setbacks to its revenue and user growth. Indeed, the drop Thursday morning was sharper than the multi-day stock slide in March following revelations of data misappropriation by Cambridge and others. (Facebook shares dropped 17.8 percent then, bottoming out at $151.65 on March 28.) “The perceived narrative surrounding Facebook has changed after yesterday’s earnings announcement,” said Jeff Henriksen, managing partner at Thorpe Abbotts Capital. “The market seems to be questioning the quality of growth seen in the past.” The share collapse merely returned Facebook shares to a level last seen in early May, a sign of just how bullish investor expectations had been running. At that time, the stock was still recovering from an earlier battering over a major privacy scandal. Facebook is hardly a stranger to a volatile stock price and has rebounded from previous mishaps, including Cambridge Analytica. While several analysts downgraded the stock, others say they still have faith in the company to grow over the long-term. “Even the best hitters strike out sometimes,” wrote Wedbush analyst Michael Pachter, who lowered his 12-month price target to $250 from $275, in a research report. “In our view, the sell-off is overdone and largely unwarranted.” Still, investors weren’t prepared for many of the bombshells dropped by Facebook Chief Financial Officer David Wehner. A hit from Europe European advertising revenue growth in Europe “decelerated more quickly than other regions,” partially because of the new European privacy laws , Wehner said. That surprised investors because of the belief that the new laws wouldn’t hurt revenue. The new laws were only in effect for one month of the quarter, which means the company may feel more of an impact in the current quarter. The new regulations are also affecting user growth in the region because of the impact of requiring consumers to opt-in to Facebook and to linking their accounts to third-party websites, Pachter said. “The implementation of GDPR gave a large number of Facebook users control over their privacy, and it should have been patently obvious to investors (and to us) that allowing users control would result in slightly lower engagement,” he noted, alluding to Europe’s General Data Protection Regulation privacy rules. Over the long term, GDPR may end up favoring Facebook and other large companies that have the resources to adapt to new requirements. They could similarly disadvantage smaller, lesser known companies that don’t have the resources to comply and which could face big fines if they don’t. Instagram worthy? Some investors were also dismayed with Facebook’s revelation about Instagram Stories, which allow users to post videos or photos that disappear after a day. Like Facebook, Instagram depends on ads to generate revenue, and Stories is supposed to help sell more ads. But Wehner said the product has “lower levels of monetization,” while adding that the company plans to invest in growing the service. “That’s going to have a negative impact on revenue growth,” he noted. Profitability woes Facebook has drawn investors because of its fast growth of users and profits. Yet both categories are facing headwinds. In case of the latter, Wehner noted that “total expense growth will exceed revenue growth in 2019,” pushing down operating margins. Investors closely watch operating margins because they serve as an important metric for profitability. The lower the operating margin, the less profitable the business. Facebook warned that its operating margins would fall from its current 44 percent to the “mid-30s.” User growth was “lackluster,” Pachter noted. So is it time to unfriend Facebook? Some analysts argue that its long-term outlook is favorable, with RBC Capital Markets’ Mark Mahaney writing that the sell-off may represent “one of the best entry points you can get on FB,” according to Bloomberg. And in the view of BTIG analyst Rich Greenfield, Facebook is making an investment that will pay off down the road. “Facebook is actively choosing to make less money, deprioritizing near-term monetization to drive engagement to even higher levels to capture even more of their 2.5 billion monthly users’ time and attention,” he wrote. “Legacy media executives… should not be rejoicing — they should be afraid, very afraid.” (© 2018 CBS Interactive Inc.. Facebook Suffers Largest One-Day Loss In Stock Market History
(CNN) — A lake of liquid water has been detected by radar beneath the southern polar ice cap of Mars, according to a new study by Italian researchers from the Italian Space Agency, published Wednesday in the journal Science. Evidence was gathered by the Mars Advanced Radar for Subsurface and Ionosphere Sounding instrument, also known as MARSIS, on the European Space Agency’s Mars Express spacecraft. Between May 2012 and December 2015, MARSIS was used to survey the Planum Australe region, which is in the southern ice cap of Mars. It sent radar pulses through the surface and polar ice caps and measured how the radio waves reflected back to Mars Express. Those pulses reflected 29 sets of radar samples that created a map of drastic change in signal almost a mile below the surface. It stretched about 12.5 miles across and looked very similar to lakes that are found beneath Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets on Earth. The radar reflected the feature’s brightness, signaling that it’s water. “We interpret this feature as a stable body of liquid water on Mars,” the authors wrote in the study. The study authors ruled out any other causes for this brightness, apart from water-rich sediments. “This is just one small study area; it is an exciting prospect to think there could be more of these underground pockets of water elsewhere, yet to be discovered,” said Roberto Orosei in a statement. Orosei is the lead study author and principal investigator of the MARSIS experiment. Previously, there has been some suggestions about water on Mars, like droplets of water condensing on the Phoenix lander or as the possible cause of recurring slope lineae, which are seasonal dark streaks on Martian slopes. But there hasn’t been evidence of stable bodies of water until now, the researchers said. However, the presence of liquid water at the base of Martian polar caps was first hypothesized in a study 31 years ago. Given its location beneath the polar ice cap, the water is expected to be below the freezing point of water. But salts like magnesium, calcium and sodium already found on Mars could help the water to form a brine, which would lower the melting point to allow the lake to remain liquid. On Earth, lakes exist below the Antarctic ice sheet even though the mean annual temperature is around negative 76 degrees Fahrenheit. Brine lakes on Earth can remain liquid at 8.6 degrees Fahrenheit, according to the study. In comparison, salty ocean water freezes at 28.4 degrees Fahrenheit, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Much like our own ice sheets, the polar ice caps change depending on the climate and act as archives for what has happened in the past. Learning more about these caps can reveal Mars’ climate history. “The long duration of Mars Express, and the exhausting effort made by the radar team to overcome many analytical challenges, enabled this much-awaited result, demonstrating that the mission and its payload still have a great science potential,” said Dmitri Titov in a statement, Mars Express project scientist. “This thrilling discovery is a highlight for planetary science and will contribute to our understanding of the evolution of Mars, the history of water on our neighbor planet and its habitability.” But how reliable are these detections? Outside experts have not been able to confirm these findings with other radar detections, like SHARAD, the Shallow Radar sounder onboard the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter. “We don’t see the same reflector with SHARAD, not even when we recently summed together [thousands] of observations to create CATSCAN-like 3-D views of both polar caps,” Nathaniel Putzig, Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter SHARAD deputy team leader and senior scientist at the Planetary Science Institute, said in an email. “We’re hoping to carry out that same imaging process with the MARSIS data next. NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) — A groundbreaking discovery could mean future human colonies are possible on Mars. Scientists say a huge lake of salty water appears to be buried underneath the surface of the red planet. The discovery, based on observations by a European spacecraft, generated excitement from experts. Water is essential to life as we know it, and scientists have long sought to prove that the liquid is present on Mars. “If these researchers are right, this is the first time we’ve found evidence of a large water body on Mars,” said Cassie Stuurman, a geophysicist at the University of Texas who found signs of an enormous Martian ice deposit in 2016. Scott Hubbard, a professor of astronautics at Stanford University who served as NASA’s first Mars program director in 2000, called it “tremendously exciting.” “Our mantra back then was `follow the water.’ That was the one phrase that captured everything,” Hubbard said. “So this discovery, if it stands, is just thrilling because it’s the culmination of that philosophy.” The study, published in the journal Science, does not determine how deep the reservoir actually is. This means that scientists can’t specify whether it’s an underground pool, an aquifer-like body, or just a layer of sludge. To find the water, Italian researchers analyzed radar signals collected over three years by the European Space Agency’s Mars Express spacecraft. Their results suggest that a 12-mile-wide (20 kilometers) reservoir lies below ice about a mile (1.5 kilometers) thick in an area close to the planet’s south pole. They spent at least two years examining the data to make sure they’d detected water, not ice or another substance. “I really have no other explanation,” said astrophysicist Roberto Orosei of Italy’s National Institute of Astrophysics in Bologna and lead author of the study. Mars is very cold, but the water might have been kept from freezing by dissolved salts. It’s the same as when you put salt on a road, said Kirsten Siebach, a planetary geologist at Rice University who wasn’t part of the study. “This water would be extremely cold, right at the point where it’s about to freeze. And it would be salty. Those are not ideal conditions for life to form,” Siebach said. Still, she said, there are microbes on Earth that have been able to adapt to environments like that. Orosei said, “It’s tempting to think that this is the first candidate place where life could persist” on Mars. He suspects Mars may contain other hidden bodies of water, waiting to be discovered. Our planetary neighbor has been a popular target for exploration, with rovers on its surface and other probes examining the planet from orbit. In May, NASA launched another spacecraft, the InSight Mars lander, that will dig under the surface after it reaches a flat plain just north of the Martian equator in November. HOUSTON, Texas (CBS Local) – A new study is giving cheese lovers a reason to celebrate. Researchers say eating dairy products won’t increase your risk of developing heart problems later on in life. According to research published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition , saturated fat found in milk and cheese did not contribute to cardiovascular disease in a large group of seniors examined for two decades. The 22-year study followed more than 2,900 people over the age of 65. Researchers found that patients with higher levels of fatty acids in their blood had a 42-percent lower risk of dying from a stroke. “Our findings not only support, but also significantly strengthen, the growing body of evidence which suggests that dairy fat, contrary to popular belief, does not increase risk of heart disease or overall mortality in older adults,” lead author Marcia Otto of UTHealth School Public Health said, via The Independent . “Consumers have been exposed to so much different and conflicting information about diet, particularly in relation to fats.” Another study in 2017 also pointed to cheese being a positive for your diet. Those findings, in the European Journal of Nutrition, concluded that people who ate large amounts of cheese could lower their risk for heart disease by up to 14 percent.

One manufacturer from each state is showcasing their U.S.-made products at the White House, including the Wiffle Ball, Inc. from Shelton, Conn. “I know how difficult it is for companies to make a decision either to stay in the U.S. or to go,” said David Mullany, president of Wiffle Ball, Inc. “We’re focused on making our products where we are,” he said. “Our products are sourced domestically. We just gotta keep our heads down and keep doing what we’re doing.” Today’s event comes as the Trump administration battles it out in a trade war with China and the European Union. “I think we’re already becoming more pro-U.S. manufacturing with what President Trump is doing with China right now,” said Serratelli “I’d to see us push more and thrive in those circumstances.” “We have a mother and son working here,” added Ali Ehsan, director of operations at the Serratelli Hat Co. Ehsan believes success comes from a strong family foundation. “It’s like you know everybody takes pride in what kind of hat we make, and really put the effort in there,” he said. He’s a Hollywood A-lister in the ring and one of the faces driving the company outside of it. He’s a former WWE Champion, an eight-time Intercontinental Champion, and a six-time tag team-champion. He’s also snagged the leading role in a number of movies, including succeeding John Cena as the star of The Marine franchise. But now the ultra-confident Ohio native has a new role — father. His wife, Maryse Ouellet, is a leading lady in her own right and no stranger to the ring as a former WWE Divas Champion. The real-life couple tangled with Cena and Nikki Bella at WrestleMania 33 and remained white hot as the company’s top villains, until they made a surprise announcement that they were expecting their first child. The pregnancy forced Maryse to come off the road, but she continues to be one of the most popular women in WWE, despite a long absence to give birth to their daughter, Monroe. Although we haven’t seen her on Raw or SmackDown in some time, she isn’t straying too far from WWE cameras. Following the success of Total Divas and the spinoff Total Bellas , the Mizanins are now getting their own reality show Miz & Mrs. For Mr. Mizanin, it’s a return to the medium that first made him famous. And for Mrs. Mizanin, it’s a chance to show her learning the ropes of motherhood. Some may call them an odd couple given her French-Canadian roots and his All-American over-the-top, larger-than-life personality. But they mesh perfectly together, and their synergy is impossible to miss. It helps when you’re working side-by-side with your best friend. There is never a lack of chemistry. But will we ever see that chemistry in the ring again? That’s the million-dollar question. Whether or not Maryse ever returns to the squared circle is very much up the air. She’s just not sure right now. Her focus is on being a mother, something that’s not conducive to an extensive travel schedule that can require her being away from home for weeks at a time. I had an opportunity to catch up with the couple in between diaper changes and nap times. I learned a lot from them. A lot. Specifically, I was taken to school about a particular type of photo shoot that not even Miz knew about until it was too late. Now, a family friend has seen way more than she bargained for, courtesy of a Laurel and Hardy type of miscommunication. Miz: Okay. Say your wife comes to you, and you’re always trying to make them happy, especially when they’re pregnant. You just want to make sure that they’re all good. She goes to me, “We’re doing a photo shoot.” I’m like, “Okay. Great.” Me, I’m thinking, “I’m gonna have a suit. I’m gonna have all this nice sort of thing.” When she tells me, “Hey, it’s an implied nude photo shoot”, and all I hear is nude photo shoot, guess what? I’m gonna do a nude photo shoot for my wife. I’m gonna do that for her because I just want to make her happy. I guess I got it wrong, because implied nude means, “Hey, you can wear underwear” or you can do whatever, so I got that wrong. Maryse, heading into that day, how long had you known about an implied nude photo shoot? Because I don’t think that a lot of people know about that. Maryse: Really? I’m French Canadian, so you would think, right? I’ve done photo shoots my entire life [it] seems like, so implied … Implied, come on. It’s like the Demi Moore photo shoots from Vanity Fair . Everyone knows that. She was covering herself. Miz: So here’s kind of what happened. She goes to me, “Hey, we’re doing a photo shoot.” She did not say implied nude, did not say anything like that, so I was like, “Okay. We’re doing a photo shoot. That’s fine. No problem. Great. Let’s do it.” The day of, my plane was late, of course, ’cause it always is, and she had to bring all the stuff. She brought all my outfits, everything. Then, I guess her and Amanda [Maryse’s best friend], who is the photographer she always uses, started talking about what they wanted to do. I guess Amanda came up with the idea of doing an implied nude photo shoot. I don’t even know what that is, to be honest. Maryse: I think it’s because we’ve been working together for so long — me and Amanda — that we know that lingo. But I assumed that you knew. And by the way, I did say, when we were in Brooklyn, that we doing an implied nude photo shoot. You know how husbands don’t listen sometimes, they listen to their wife, but… Miz: You never said implied nude photo shoot, because I don’t know what that is, and I would’ve asked what that is. So, I get there. When I get in the car and I start asking her what are we doing, [she said] “Listen, you’re gonna be wearing a suit. I’m gonna be in a dress. Another one we’re gonna do is an implied nude photo shoot.” So I went there and I tried to do what my wife wanted me to do. I feel the need to stand up for my fellow man here. There’s no other way to possibly interpret that. Maryse: Oh, my God. You gotta be kidding me right now. Miz: Thank you! Maryse: No. No, no, no. Every woman would tell you, “No, no, no. It’s implied .” How the heck do you walk onto a set completely fully naked? Miz: Because I wanted to make everyone feel comfortable. Maryse: My best friend saw everything! Miz: Everything. I was out there. Changing gears… I want to ask you about parenthood. Who’s the better diaper changer? Miz: 100 percent me. Maryse: Oh, my God. Miz: No? Yesterday we go to the doctors, right? And Monroe peed through her diaper, which is the diaper that Maryse put on, not the one I put on. She’s never leaked in a diaper that I have put on. Maryse: Okay, Mike. Yes, you are the best diaper changer in the world. It’s like I have to raise my daughter and I have a five-year-old that’s actually 37, my husband. I love being on the road, because I get to do what I love, but I get to be with my husband at all times. This might sound cheesy, but we get along, and we have a great dynamic together. I really love being on the road with him. But right now, I just wanna be with Monroe at all times. I just wanna spend as much time as possible with her and just take it in. I’ve been out of WWE for injuries, and I’ve taken time off before, but this is a different time. This is completely different, and I just wanna be there and take it one day at a time, which is weird because I’m such a “go, go, go” type of person. I have to be working or doing something at all times. But for the first time in my life, I really enjoy being home and taking care of her. Every day, she wakes up, and I look at her, and it’s a new day. It’s crazy. Miz: It’s funny. I leave, and I’m gone. I just got back from Japan. The trip ended up being 13 days. We were stranded there for three days. But 13 days with a three-month old, she changes. She gains weight and she’s just getting bigger and bigger. It’s incredible to witness. But thank God for FaceTime, because I don’t know what I would do. I would imagine the road now is completely different for you. You’re a grown man now. You’ve got the child. You’ve got the ultimate responsibility. I don’t think that there’s a whole lot of time to cut up and carry on anymore. Miz: No. You know? I don’t even think about that anymore. I’m a morning person now. I woke up today at like six o’clock in the morning, and I was sitting there having a coffee and just watching her, just staring at her. I feel like a weirdo just staring at my daughter, but that’s what I love doing. I just enjoy seeing her, playing with her, seeing her do things, and witnessing it and just being there. Maryse: I feel like every day, I sent you about 100 videos and photos of Monroe, and I don’t know if I’ll ever be back on the road or how it would happen or work. I’m just gonna take it easy and enjoy what I’m doing right now, because this is something that has to be enjoyed. We’ll see. Maybe. Never know. For right now, my head is definitely at home with my daughter. Miz, you know how when you’re a kid and your parents will say something and you’ll roll your eyes, and you’ll be like, “I’m never gonna be like that. There’s no way that will ever be me.” Have you seen some of those traits maybe start to creep into yourself a little bit, now that you’re a father yourself? Miz: As much as I hate to say it, yes. I see the things that I would always hate when my dad did them. Then, I realized, actually, before I had Monroe, how much I am like my dad. Then, when Maryse sits there and goes, “You’re being George Mizanin right now.” And I’m like, “Um. No.” She goes, “Yes.” Then, I sit there and think about it, and I go, “Oh, my God. I’m becoming my father.” Maryse, what about you? Maryse: I always said I am not like my mom, and Mike keeps saying that I’m 100% like my mom. Miz: Yes. None of the Ouellet family has any patience. If they say this needs to be done, it needs to be done right now, do it. If it’s not done, then they’ll just annoy you until you do it. Maryse: We’re a little dramatic and impatient. Miz: A little? Maryse: Listen, I’m married with The Miz, so I have to be a little dramatic. I have to be able to handle this whole persona, [this] personality that is my husband. You’ve had some things to say about Daniel Bryan over the last couple of years. Of course, now, he’s a new father himself. So, my question to you is this: Is he ever the kind of guy that you would go to for advice on raising a kid? And would you ever consider raising a vegan child? Miz: A vegan child? No. I’ll allow Monroe to do whatever she wants to do as far as I’m concerned. Obviously, to a degree. If she wants to be a vegan, then I’ll support her being a vegan. If she doesn’t wanna be a vegan, then I’ll support her not being a vegan. You know? It’s up to her. That’s her decision, and I hope that I am able to raise a strong, independent, and powerful woman, kind of like my wife is. As far as Daniel Bryan’s concerned, I applaud the fact that he’s a father. I applaud the fact that he’s raising his daughter the best he can. But when he steps into the ring, that’s a whole other thing. You know what I mean? You can’t diss a guy for being a dad, but you can diss a guy for being a WWE superstar and being condescending and sitting there thinking that he’s better than you. Then, all of the sudden, since he wants me to be on SmackDown Live , he goes to the general manager and gets it done and puts me on SmackDown Live . And then I’m here for the past three months, and he has done nothing, and I mean nothing, since I have been there on SmackDown Live . I am waiting for him, but the fact is, he hasn’t stepped up to me, hasn’t said a word to me, hasn’t really done anything to me. The only thing I’ve done is beat him in a gauntlet match, so as far as I’m concerned, I’ve won. The fact is, I went up to … If you remember talking smack, I think it was three or four years ago, I said everything to Daniel Bryan’s face. I went right up to him. (CNN) — US President Donald Trump told Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday that he hopes their two countries can have an “extraordinary relationship” going forward, just hours after he blamed US policy — not Putin — for the dismal state of relations between the two countries. “I think we have great opportunities together as two countries that, frankly, we have not been getting along very well for the last number of years,” Trump said. “I think we will end up having an extraordinary relationship.” Trump arrived Monday afternoon at the Finnish presidential palace for what he has called a summit with Putin, hoping once again that his personal touch can reverse the steep decline in US-Russia relations in recent years. US officials have stressed the path to improving US-Russia ties runs through a clear-eyed understanding of Russian aggression and the root causes of discord in the relationship, but Trump is signaling a different course. He is holding previous US administrations and the Justice Department’s investigation stemming from Russian meddling in the 2016 election responsible. “Our relationship with Russia has NEVER been worse thanks to many years of U.S. foolishness and stupidity and now, the Rigged Witch Hunt!” Trump tweeted Monday morning ahead of the summit. Trump and Putin arrived separately at the Finnish presidential palace, about 45 minutes behind schedule. Trump held at his hotel while he waited for Putin, who is known for arriving late to important events, to touch down — drawing comparisons to Trump’s late arrivals at recent summits with US allies. They then walked into a room at the presidential palace together before offering brief remarks before a gaggle of cameras and reporters, with Trump congratulating Putin once again “on a really great World Cup.” The two men shook hands after speaking, before reporters were ushered out. For the next hour-and-a-half, Trump and Putin are scheduled to hold one-on-one discussions, with only interpreters at their side. Trump was eager to have time alone with Putin to better personally assess him and develop a personal relationship, according to a US official, but he has also expressed anger at leaks from his meetings with foreign leaders and told aides he wanted to ensure his sensitive discussions with Putin remained secret. The official also said that Trump doesn’t want aides — who may take a harder line on Russia — undercutting or interrupting him during his talks with Putin. Just days earlier, Trump pointed to the “pure stupidity” and a “political problem” in the United States for making it “very hard to do something with Russia.” “Anything you do, it’s always going to be, ‘Oh, Russia, he loves Russia,’ ” Trump said during a joint news conference with his British counterpart. Trump’s Monday morning tweet and his words and actions in the last week have only amplified concerns about his approach to Russia among US allies and lawmakers of both parties in Washington. During his swing through Brussels and the United Kingdom, Trump has repeatedly criticized US allies, called the European Union a “foe” and criticized the Obama administration rather than Russia in the wake of the Justice Department’s indictment of 12 Russian agents who allegedly worked to hack Democrats’ emails and computer networks during the 2016 election. Ahead of his meeting with Putin — who is alleged to be behind the assassination of journalists and political dissidents — the US President also lashed out again at the news media on Sunday by branding journalists “the enemy of the people.” Trump again — as he has repeatedly done — pointed the finger at his predecessor President Barack Obama and characterized the investigation stemming from Russian election interference as a “witch hunt.” “President Obama thought that Crooked Hillary was going to win the election, so when he was informed by the FBI about Russian Meddling, he said it couldn’t happen, was no big deal, & did NOTHING about it,” Trump tweeted. “When I won it became a big deal and the Rigged Witch Hunt headed by Strzok!” Everything from Russian meddling in the 2016 election to the conflicts in Syria and Ukraine are expected to be on the agenda for their summit here in Helsinki, but Trump has signaled he is most eager to jumpstart talks to “substantially reduce” the two countries’ nuclear weapons arsenals and generally improve US-Russia relations. Trump is not, however, expected to offer to halt military exercises in the Baltics as part of his discussions with Putin, with a US official telling CNN’s Jeff Zeleny “at least that’s the plan going in.” The question of the Baltics exercises has hung over the summit, particularly after Trump abruptly decided last month to agree to stop joint US-South Korean military exercises during his meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. Trump has said he intends to once again ask Putin about Russian efforts to sway the results of the 2016 election, but has signaled he will not press the issue. “I know you’ll ask, will we be talking about meddling. I will absolutely bring that up. I don’t think you’ll have any, ‘Gee, I did it. I did it. You got me.’ There won’t be a Perry Mason here, I don’t think, but you never know what happens, right? But I will absolutely, firmly ask the question,” Trump said. Trump has sought to cool expectations in the last days leading up to the summit, saying in an interview Saturday that he planned to arrive in Helsinki “with very low expectations.” “I think that getting along with Russia is a good thing, but it’s possible we won’t,” Trump said. ST. PETERSBURG, Russia (AP) — For Belgium and England, the third-place match at the World Cup was more like a dress rehearsal for future finals. At least they hope. The Belgians earned their best World Cup finish by beating England 2-0 on Saturday in a match both saw as the start of a push for the European Championship title in 2020 or the World Cup in 2022. “With this winning mentality you can win trophies,” said Eden Hazard, who scored Belgium’s second goal. “In two years, in four years, we will be better. We have young players. They are very good also in the team. They push all of us.” Thomas Meunier and Hazard both scored at St. Petersburg Stadium in a match between the two semifinal losers. France and Croatia will play in the final on Sunday at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow. The French beat Belgium on Tuesday in the semifinals, while the Croats defeated England on Wednesday. England matched its best World Cup result — fourth in 1990 — since winning the tournament for the only time in 1966. “Today shows there’s room for improvement. We’re not the finished article. We’re still learning. We’re still getting better,” England striker Harry Kane said. “We don’t want to wait another 20-odd years to get into another major semifinal.” Both Belgium and England were playing for the seventh time in 26 days, but the Belgians entered the match with an extra day of rest. Meunier’s goal matched a World Cup record for Belgium by having 10 different players score in a tournament, something only done before by France in 1982 and Italy in 2006.
