With many not deciding to travel for Thanksgiving because of COVID-19, that means that lots of people will be making big holiday dinner for the first time. Behne says one of the most consistent questions they’ve gotten from people so far is how long to cook the turkey. “First I would say follow the instructions on the bag, but second go out and buy yourself a meat thermometer,” said Behne. “A lot of the turkeys have the pop up timers and that is great, but I like to be absolutely certain that my turkey is 165 degrees in the thickest part of that turkey. The second question we get is how long do you thaw the frozen turkey. I like to tell people to take it out on Monday and it will be ready to cook on Thursday. Take it out of the freezer, put it in the refrigerator on Monday and on Thursday you will be ready to cook your turkey.” If texting is your preferred method of communication, you can text the word Turkey to 73876 and a specialist will answer your questions. In addition to the turkey, one of the best parts of any Thanksgiving meal is the sides to go along with the bird and the leftovers that you’ll have for the next few days. “People today seem like they are more okay with exploring new recipes than they have been in the past. I think part of that is because we have all been in quarantine and are a little bit more comfortable in the kitchen,” said Behne. “Now is the time for people to take on new recipes and try new things. The leftovers are endless, the sandwiches are the number one way that people use leftover turkey. I love creamy pasta dishes that you incorporate with by dicing the turkey and putting it into those other dishes. The other one that is delicious is stuffed peppers. Typically you use a ground turkey in stuffed peppers, but you can take your leftover thanksgiving turkey and dice it up and put that in stuffed peppers as well.”

(CBS Local)– Season seven of “ NCIS: New Orleans ” premieres Sunday, November 8 on CBS and actor CCH Pounder is excited for fans to see another great season of the show. Pounder plays coroner Dr. Loretta Wade and the show has exceeded her wildest expectations. Initially, Pounder thought “NCIS: New Orleans” was going to be the type of formulaic show that was going to wrap everything up at the end of the episode. However, the drama has been quite the opposite of that and that’s why Pounder thinks the series has resonated with people across the country and the city of New Orleans. “Just like the city that I’m in New Orleans, it’s is different and the show is different,” said Pounder, in an interview with CBS Local’s DJ Sixsmith. “New Orleans is a character that creates different types of characters and beings and this show has paid attention to where they are. I’m able to be a sassy coroner and a woman who adopts two kids because they need a home. There is a humanity in her [Dr. Wade] that is not so easy to see. It affected New Orleans a great deal and it was one of the cities at one point that had very high numbers and they were rapidly increasing. A huge part of this city is tourism. Bourbon Street was closed down and the French Quarter was closed down and people were getting very anxious about when they would go back to work. We are focusing on the anxiety of our city and how COVID-19 is affecting each and every one of us. Tim Heidecker On Showtime’s ‘Moonbase 8’: ‘We Wanted To Make Something That Would Make You Laugh’

(CBS Local)– Showtime is the place to be this weekend because a hilarious new comedy called “ Moonbase 8 ” starring John C. Reilly, Fred Armisen and Tim Heidecker premieres on Sunday, November 8. The series is about three astronauts training at NASA’s Moon Base Simulator in the Arizona desert and they are wondering if they will ever get their opportunity to go to the moon. While training, these astronauts encounter many challenges like loneliness, self-doubt and their own incompetence. Heidecker has known Reilly and Armisen for years and he thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to work with two great comedians in this arena. “It was a lot of fun. I have been friends with John and done a lot of work with John C. Reilly,” said Heidecker, in an interview with CBS Local’s DJ Sixsmith. “I’ve done some stuff with Fred [Armisen] and we just had this desire to work together. We wanted to find a way to cram us all into the same room and literally in the show that’s where we find ourselves. We are isolated from the rest of the world in the middle of the desert training to live on the moon. It was this homegrown, homemade project that we did on our own with A24 and luckily found a home with Showtime.” Heidecker has been making audiences laugh for decades as a stand-up comedian and an actor/producer in projects like “Bridesmaids” and several Adult Swims shows and specials. He says that this is exactly the show that he, Reilly and Armisen wanted to make. The type of classic comedy where you put very capable people in stressful situations that require a lot of experience, talent and knowledge. The other thing that we were interested in is as the space program becomes more and more normal, it’s important that it’s not just these test pilots that have this daredevil kind of attitude. It is going to require regular types to be somewhat involved. We take it to the extreme place where these guys don’t belong in the program.” Heidecker says the best part of this show was being able to work with his friends. While he has known and worked with Reilly and Armisen in the past, “Moonbase 8” provided the runway for their comedy to shine in a new way. “I got to work with one of the best actors working in John C. Reilly and working with one of the funniest people I know in Fred Armisen. We wanted to capture that sense of humor that we enjoy privately with each other between the takes and on set as you’re waiting for things to happen. That’s the spirit and energy we had in making this project. Rowdy Gaines: ‘Team USA Swimming Has Been #1 In The World Since 1956, No Other Sport Can Claim That Excellence’

(CBS Local Sports)– Several professional sports leagues have used a bubble in order to play games during the COVID-19 pandemic and swimming is the latest sport that is hoping a bubble will allow for safe competition. The International Swimming League is currently being held in Budapest and Olympic gold medalist and announcer Rowdy Gaines is in the bubble to call all the action. The International Swimming League is airing on CBS Sports and CBS Sports Network and the league is in its second year of existence. The ISL features the top swimmers from around the world and 50 countries are represented. Gaines has been thoroughly impressed with the execution of the bubble and has enjoyed seeing swimmers like Caeleb Dressel, Lilly King and Ryan Murphy who will be representing Team USA next summer. “It’s exceeded my wildest dreams to be honest with you,” said Gaines, in an interview with CBS Local’s DJ Sixsmith. “Everybody has just been wonderful here. The people from Hungary are some of the nicest people I’ve ever met. The facility is the best facility I’ve ever been to in my life and I’ve been to a lot of pools over my career. All the protocols for safety have been magnificent. The great thing about the ISL is that we have such great diversity. In our country we like to focus on the Americans, but we really have some of the best international swimmers in the world today. I thought it was going to be like preseason football because everyone hasn’t swum in nine months. It’s really surprised me how incredibly fast the swimmers have been. The league also provides the American audience an opportunity to see what Team USA will look like without Michael Phelps. Gaines has seen a lot of great swimmers in his day, but Phelps will always top his list. “I think they [Team USA] are in a great position. We are without the greatest of all-time, the literal GOAT in Michael Phelps,” said Gaines. “We’ve had him since 2000 and in 2021 we won’t have Michael anymore. That is certainly going to be noticed. If you think about it, Team USA has been #1 in the world in swimming since 1956. No other sport and no other country can claim that kind of excellence for 64 straight years. I think we’ll survive without Michael. It’s not going to be a lot of fun.
