( CBS Local )- The season is past the midway point and there wasn’t much action at the trade deadline to speak of that will influence fantasy owners in terms of workloads for various position players. However, there are still injuries to keep in mind and what those injuries mean for the players stepping in to fill that void. This week, that is where Jamey Eisenberg of the Fantasy Football Today show is looking for his start of the week. Arizona Cardinals running back Chase Edmonds looks to be in line for the bulk of the work this week against the Miami Dolphins. “Edmonds is in a great spot taking over for Kenyan Drake, he’s out with an ankle injury. Dolphins run defense has been good. But, I think the workload for Edmonds is what you want to buy into here. Excellent setup for him if he gets the 18-plus touches that Drake has gotten in five of the seven games so far. Edmonds hasn’t needed much work to be successful. This could be a blow up game for him.” In addition to Edmonds, Baltimore Ravens running back J.K. Dobbins and Washington Football Team’s J.D. McKissic are on Eisenberg’s list to start this week. On the other hand, Jonathan Taylor of the Colts going against Dobbins’ Ravens? Dave Richard is advising that you may want to leave him on the bench this week. “He just has not looked good. And when Jordan Wilkins looks better than you, there’s something wrong. I think the Colts have recognized this and they’re probably going to split the workload that we thought would theoretically be Jonathan Taylor’s by now,” said Richard. “Until we see that rectified, I can’t trust Taylor in my lineup. SAN DIMAS (CBSLA) – A brush fire erupted in the San Gabriel foothills of San Dimas early Friday morning and quickly spread, but was not forcing any evacuations. A brush fire burns in San Dimas, Calif. Nov. 6, 2020. (CBSLA) The San Dimas Fire was first reported just after 4 a.m. in the area of San Dimas Canyon and East Golden Hills roads, near the border between San Dimas and La Verne. “Could see the flames pretty significantly, we have a two-story house, we heard the helicopters and all the action all over the place,” La Verne resident Mark Wellington said. It grew to 100 acres, burning uphill in steep terrain and heavy, dry brush, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department. Neighbors told CBSLA that the those hillsides have not burned in at least a decade. Fortunately, the fire was burning northwest and away from homes. Along with the LACFD, La Verne Fire Department and USFS crews also responded and were battling the blaze with the help of several water-dropping helicopters. (CBSLA) Forward progress was initially halted at around 9:30 a.m. with containment at 25%, USFS reported. However, the fire later crossed containment lines a little before noon. Homes were not threatened and no evacuations were issued. The wind were light, spelling favorability for firefighting crews. The San Dimas Canyon Golf Course was also serving as a buffer between the fire and the neighborhoods. “Any time you’ve got a break, or a green belt of vegetation, such as a golf course, that’s gonna give you that buffer, that space, so that’s definitely an assett,” L.A. County Fire Capt. Ron Haralson said. During the height of the fire, ash fell on the neighborhoods below. Nov. 6, 2020. (La Verne Police Department) “Every once in a while the fire envelops a tree, or several trees, and it flares up,” La Verne resident and CBSLA Digital Director BJ Dahl told CBS2 News This Morning by phone as he watched the flames burn in the hillsides. Three firefighters suffered minor injuries during the firefight and had to be airlifted out, the LACFD reported. There was no word on a cause. California has seen a historic number of wildfires since August, including the 115,000-acre Bobcat Fire which broke in early September the Angeles National Forest and destroyed at least 83 homes. Two large wildfires broke out on Oct. 26: The 14,300-acre Blue Ridge Fire in Corona, and the 13,400-acre Silverado Fire east of Irvine. Both forced tens of thousands of people to flee.

LONG BEACH (CBSLA) — Just two days after breaking several heat records, cold temperatures, rain, snow and strong, gusty winds are forecast for Southern California. Several cities saw their heat records broken Thursday, including Long Beach, which hit a high of 95 degrees, breaking the previous record high of 93 in 2012. In the Inland Empire, Palm Springs and Idyllwild both reached 98 degrees Thursday, breaking their previous records of 96 in. Thermal also broke its 1988 record of 79 degrees by reaching 80 on Thursday. Meanwhile, Riverside, San Jacinto, Woodland Hills and UCLA all tied their previous high temperature records. But temperatures will start to plummet Friday night thanks to a cold low-pressure system from Canada that is expected to bring rain and mountain snow this weekend. Saturday morning and afternoon rainfall is expected to be the heaviest and most widespread, with another round forecast for Sunday afternoon. Snow levels are also expected to drop as low as 4,000 feet by Sunday night. As much as 12 inches of snow could fall at higher elevations. A high surf advisory that starts at 4 p.m. has also been issued for Los Angeles and Ventura counties. Dangerous rip currents and waves as tall as 8 feet are forecast to pound the coasts all the way down to San Diego County this weekend. A wind advisory has also been issued for the San Bernardino Mountains, Victor Valley, and the deserts. Winds of 15 to 25 mph are forecast, and with gusts of up to 50 mph could blow around unsecure objects, take out tree limbs and cause power outages.

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) – George Gascón will be the next district attorney of Los Angeles County after incumbent Jackie Lacey conceded the race Friday morning, losing in her effort to obtain a third term in the position. In an emotional news conference, Lacey acknowledged that she would not have the votes to overcome the deficit she currently faces. The 66-year-old Gascón, the former San Francisco District Attorney, was leading by a 53.72% to 46.28% margin, a difference of just over 229,000 votes. “My consultants tell me that while I may close the gap between the two of us, I will not be able to make up enough, based on the trending of the ballots, to win this election,” Lacey said. According to the L.A. County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk’s office, there were still an estimated 791,200 votes remaining to be tallied. Lacey was the first woman and the first African-American to hold the position. “To my mom, who constantly asked me, ‘are you OK?’ and who constantly reminded me during this contentious fight, that no matter what happened, I made history,” Lacey said. The 63-year-old Lacey has held the DA’s post since 2012. However, she has faced growing criticism during her tenure over claims she has not been aggressive enough in prosecuting law enforcement officers for misconduct. Those protests increased significantly in the wake of the George Floyd protests. For months, protesters have been holding weekly demonstrations outside of her downtown office and her home . In August, the California Attorney General filed misdemeanor gun charges against her husband for an incident back in March in which he allegedly pointed a gun at Black Lives Matter protesters . A pretrial hearing is scheduled in the case for Dec. 11. Last month, L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti switched his endorsement from Lacey to Gascón. Gascón, a retired Los Angeles police officer, has served as both police chief and district attorney for San Francisco. Both appointments were made by current California governor and former San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom. He earned a November runoff against Lacey after coming in second to her in the March primary. (CBS Local)– Showtime is the place to be this weekend because a hilarious new comedy called “ Moonbase 8 ” starring John C. Reilly, Fred Armisen and Tim Heidecker premieres on Sunday, November 8. The series is about three astronauts training at NASA’s Moon Base Simulator in the Arizona desert and they are wondering if they will ever get their opportunity to go to the moon. While training, these astronauts encounter many challenges like loneliness, self-doubt and their own incompetence. Heidecker has known Reilly and Armisen for years and he thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to work with two great comedians in this arena. “It was a lot of fun. I have been friends with John and done a lot of work with John C. Reilly,” said Heidecker, in an interview with CBS Local’s DJ Sixsmith. “I’ve done some stuff with Fred [Armisen] and we just had this desire to work together. We wanted to find a way to cram us all into the same room and literally in the show that’s where we find ourselves. We are isolated from the rest of the world in the middle of the desert training to live on the moon. It was this homegrown, homemade project that we did on our own with A24 and luckily found a home with Showtime.” Heidecker has been making audiences laugh for decades as a stand-up comedian and an actor/producer in projects like “Bridesmaids” and several Adult Swims shows and specials. He says that this is exactly the show that he, Reilly and Armisen wanted to make. The other thing that we were interested in is as the space program becomes more and more normal, it’s important that it’s not just these test pilots that have this daredevil kind of attitude. It is going to require regular types to be somewhat involved. We take it to the extreme place where these guys don’t belong in the program.” Heidecker says the best part of this show was being able to work with his friends. While he has known and worked with Reilly and Armisen in the past, “Moonbase 8” provided the runway for their comedy to shine in a new way. “I got to work with one of the best actors working in John C. Reilly and working with one of the funniest people I know in Fred Armisen. We wanted to capture that sense of humor that we enjoy privately with each other between the takes and on set as you’re waiting for things to happen. That’s the spirit and energy we had in making this project. Then on Tuesday, police said the suspect was armed with a gun when he approached a 32-year-old man and woman aboard a Brooklyn-bound N train headed to the 36th Street station and told them to place their rings on the seat. He allegedly got away with rings valued at $3,000. No one was hurt in any of the incidents. Police released surveillance images of the suspect taken after the Oct. 23 crime.
