ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Cole Hamels limited the slugging New York Yankees to four hits over seven innings while Jurickson Profar and Ronald Guzman homered for the last-place Texas Rangers in a 6-4 win Tuesday night. Profar’s three-run homer in the first that just cleared the 8-foot wall in center put the Rangers ahead to stay against Domingo German (0-2). Guzman started the fourth with a liner into the right field seats, making it 6-1 only a few batters before the Yankees starter came out. New York, a big league-best 31-14, had won 22 of its previous 26 games and was coming off a three-game stretch with 14 homers and 28 runs. The Yankees’ Aaron Boone got his first ejection as a big league manager for apparently arguing balls and strikes while Gary Sanchez was batting in the sixth. After the high strike for an 0-2 count that led to Boone’s ejection by plate umpire Pat Hoberg, Sanchez drew a walk. He left in the middle of the inning, apparently because of a cramp. Hamels (3-4) struck out seven and walked two in his first start in 11 days. The lefty was scratched from his precious turn because of neck stiffness. Keone Kela worked a perfect ninth for his ninth save in as many chances, the Rangers’ first save since May 11 when he closed out a 1-0 win at Houston in Hamels’ prior start. Texas had provided only one run in support for Hamels in four of his previous five starts and five of the last seven. Opponents hit only .206 in his last six starts before the Yankees went 4-of-25 (.160) against him. Rookies Gleyber Torres and Miguel Andujar hit solo homers off Hamels. Torres, who homered twice in the series opener Monday, has seven homers in his first 26 career games. Austin Romine, who replaced Sanchez, hit a two-run homer in the eighth but the Yankees fell short of becoming the first team to homer four times or more in four consecutive games. Texas led 5-0 after scoring twice without a hit in the second, when German hit a batter, walked two and had three wild pitches. There have been 25 wild pitches and seven passed balls when Sanchez has been behind the plate this season. TRAINER’S ROOM Yankees: Boone said “there is a shot” that 1B Greg Bird, who has 20 homers in his 94 career games, could make his season debut this weekend at home. Bird has been on the disabled list all season recovering from right ankle surgery and is rehabbing at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Rangers: SS Elvis Andrus (broken right elbow) began doing dry swings with a fungo bat. … 3B Adrian Beltre (strained left hamstring) took some groundballs at an easy pace for the first time since re-injuring his hamstring May 13. … Former two-time NL Cy Young winner Tim Lincecum (blister right finger), who could make his Texas debut as a reliever as early as next week, had a 42-pitch rehab appearance Monday. UP NEXT New York will try to win its fifth consecutive road series in the finale. Yankees lefty CC Sabathia’s 2,879 career strikeouts are tops among active pitchers, and his 239 wins are second only to Rangers right-hander Bartolo Colon, the loser in the series opener. Doug Fister (1-4) pitches for Texas. (© Copyright 2018 The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed.)

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Celebrity chef Mario Batali is reportedly being investigated by the NYPD. The move is said to stem from accusations of sexual misconduct made by several women, CBS2’s Reena Roy reported Sunday night from “The Spotted Pig” in the West Village. CBS News has confirmed the NYPD has an ongoing criminal investigation into Batali, after investigators spoke with several women accusing him of misconduct. One of them is a former employee of his who told CBS News that Batali drugged and then sexually assaulted her here at The Spotted Pig. Mario Batali (Photo by Craig Barritt/Getty Images for Fast Company) A woman who did not want to be identified told “60 Minutes” back in 2005 that when she worked for Batali at his restaurant “Babbo” things took a turn one night. She claims he invited her to a party at The Spotted Pig, a restaurant he’s invested in. She said they ended up sitting alone together on the second floor. “And this is … part of the messy, scary part for me. There is a part where it … it all disappears,” the woman said. “I remember a moment where I was on his lap, kissing him. Like, he was kissing me. And then I remember throwing up in a toilet, and that is all.” MORE : Celebrity Chef, Restaurateur Mario Batali Accused Of Sexual Misconduct That woman said she woke up the next morning on the third floor of the restaurant with apparent bodily fluid on her clothing, CBS2’s Roy reported. “The first thing I think is, ‘I’ve been drugged.’ That was the first thing I thought is, ‘I’ve been … I’ve been assaulted,’” the woman said. The alleged victim told 60 Minutes she did not file a police report, but did speak with the NYPD, called a crisis hotline and got checked out at a hospital. The celebrity chef sent a statement to 60 Minutes, saying, “I vehemently deny the allegation that I sexually assaulted this woman. My past behavior has been deeply inappropriate and I am sincerely remorseful for my actions.” Anderson Cooper of 60 Minutes spoke with several other women, including a former manager at The Spotted Pig, who claims Batali had touched her inappropriately, and added she once saw Batali on a surveillance camera touching an unconscious woman. When asked if she had any doubt that she saw Batali touch the unconscious woman,” the woman said, “Yeah no doubt. To this day I still feel ashamed that I didn’t call the police.” Back in December when several women initially came forward about sexual misconduct, Batali stepped down from several roles. On Sunday night, his hospitality group released a statement saying it will be cutting ties with him completely, Roy reported.

ORLANDO, Fla. (CBS New York) – As if Disney World wasn’t exciting enough, the dragon float from “Sleeping Beauty” went up in flames during the Festival of Fantasy Parade at the Magic Kingdom. Fire breathing is a normal feature of the float, but the flames somehow got out of control and lit up the dragon’s neck. A Disney employee rushed over with a fire extinguisher and within minutes the fire was out. No one was hurt and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

TOWN OF HUNTINGTON, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) – A large area of open space on Long Island could soon be cleared to make room for what residents are calling a mega-mall. But many say that’s the last thing they need and they’re asking elected officials to keep a decade-old promise. As CBS2’s Carolyn Gusoff reported, a battle is brewing over a developer’s plan for an upscale shopping and office center on vacant land just three miles from the existing Walt Whitman mall. “This developer is bringing in a project that has nothing to do with this community, that is not needed and not wanted,” Huntington resident Tracy Kleinsberg said. Villadom’s Elwood Orchard (Credit: Mark Stumer, Mojo Stumer Associates) There are more than 7,000 signatures on a petition against developer Villadom, which calls its project a “lifestyle commercial center.” Renderings show a sleek three-story fitness center, retail and office space on 50 acres, adjacent to an orchard and privately owned. But there’s public alarm. The main drag through western Suffolk County, Jericho Turnpike, is already jam-packed. Opponents liken the development to the size of the Nassau Coliseum, bringing 1,400 cars per hour – impacting water quality and wildlife. “We’ve seen enough malls, we’ve seen enough vacant stores up and down Jericho Turnpike,” said Dix Hills resident Brad Schneider. “You can’t get around in this area now,” East Northport resident Jim Leonick. Villadom’s Elwood Orchard (Credit: Mark Stumer, Mojo Stumer Associates) The property is zoned for one-acre homes in the town’s decade-old comprehensive plan. The proposed development would require a zoning change. “We consider that comprehensive plan a contract between the Town of Huntington and the residents of the town,” said Dix Hills resident Gail Jospa. A spokesperson for Villadom told CBS2 in a statement, “Elwood Orchard will provide a much needed boost to the commercial tax base in Elwood, bringing more than $4 million in tax revenue to community with nearly $3 million going to the school district, and creating 750 construction jobs and 950 permanent jobs for local residents. Villadom is proposing to construct a new and permanent home for the Elwood Library as part of the site. This non-residential development will reduce the school tax burden on residents by approximately $600 per household and not add one single student. Elwood Orchard will comply with all state and local water protection standards and the proposed use does not present an adverse impact on ground water.” The company has also set up a Facebook page to address some of the community’s concerns. Villadom’s Elwood Orchard (Credit: Mark Stumer, Mojo Stumer Associates) Still, residents are skeptical. “If we don’t believe what he’s telling us, then you take that tax benefit out of the equation. There’s no benefit to the surrounding area,” Leonick said. Huntington Town Supervisor Chad Lupinacci said the town is still gathering facts. “We look at everything from congestion, we look at whether or not retail space is needed, we look at the public benefit,” he said. There’s so much interest in the proposed zoning change, a public hearing at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 17 had to be moved to a larger venue — from the Town Hall to Elwood Middle School.

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) — The New York Mets are cutting ties with former ace Matt Harvey . Harvey, once regarded as a premier pitcher who could have joined Tom Seaver and Dwight Gooden among the Mets’ greats, refused a minor league assignment and will be designated for assignment Saturday. Matt Harvey (Photo by Elsa/Getty Images) The 29-year-old right-hander lost his spot in the rotation last month after four starts, and he had a 10.50 ERA in four relief appearances. “It’s the end of an era,” Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said before Friday night’s game against Colorado. “And I used that term in broad senses. Matt has been a cornerstone certainly of my tenure here, a tremendous prospect at the time I arrived, tremendous accomplishments during the course of my tenure here. And it’s a very unfortunate, difficult conclusion.” Sandy Alderson and Mickey Callaway address the media live. #Mets https://t.co/vFKGpe9TYR — New York Mets (@Mets) May 4, 2018 New York had hoped Harvey would be willing to work at the team’s minor league complex in Florida in an effort to regain form. Harvey refused. “We feel Matt is a starter (and) needs to work on 4 pitches,” his agent, Scott Boras said in a text message. “In the bullpen a pitcher tends to focus on 2 pitches to get back to the rotation.” After Harvey is designated, the Mets have seven days to trade him or release him. Because of Harvey’s $5,625,000 salary, a trade may be difficult to work out unless the Mets agree to send cash as part of a deal. If Harvey is released, a team signing him would owe just a prorated share of the $545,000 minimum. “Very pleased he is healthy and with more than needed MLB (velocity),” Boras wrote. “We have a lot of clay to work with to build the starter sculpture.” More: Latest Harvey Controversy Shows Marriage With Mets Is Broken Harvey is 0-2 with a 7.00 ERA in four starts and four relief appearances, leaving him with a 34-37 record and 3.66 ERA in six major league seasons. “We’ve tried to find some other solution over a fairly long period of time,” said Alderson, who was hired by the Mets in October 2010. “This was a long time coming. This is not someone who hasn’t pitched well recently. So I mean this is something we’ve tried to address, we’ve struggled with, we’ve wrestled with over two managerial regimes.” Harvey’s Mets finale was in an 11-0 loss to Atlanta on Thursday. He relieved Jason Vargas with New York trailing 6-0 in the fifth inning and gave up Ozzie Albies’ three-run homer in a five-run seventh. Booed as he walked off the mound, Harvey took a seat in the dugout and stared at Citi Field. “The move to the bullpen was dramatic in itself,” Alderson said. “So I think that at this point, pragmatism, realism far outweighed other considerations.” Harvey would have been eligible for free agency after this season. As a player with five years of major league service, he cannot be assigned to the minor leagues without his consent. “We feel like we failed Matt Harvey,” manager Mickey Callaway said. “Our job is to help every player in there, and it’s not a good feeling when you can’t.” Selected by the Mets with the seventh overall pick in the 2010 amateur draft, Harvey made his big league debut in July 2012 and became a major sports figure in New York — both at the ballpark and at Manhattan night spots. He was nicknamed the Dark Knight of Gotham after Sports Illustrated called him that in a cover story in May 2013. He started the All-Star Game at Citi Field that July and was 9-5 with a 2.27 ERA when he tore an elbow ligament during a game against Detroit on Aug. 24. That led to Tommy John surgery on Oct. 22. Harvey returned in 2015 and went 13-8 with a 2.27 ERA as the Mets reached the World Series for the first time since 2000. But he slumped to a 4-10 record with a 4.86 ERA the following year and had season-ending surgery on July 18, 2016, to correct thoracic outlet syndrome. He was 6-13 with a 6.70 ERA last season, when he was sidelined from mid-June until September because of a stress injury to the scapula bone in his right shoulder. He was suspended for three days without pay in May for skipping a game following a late night on the town. The New York Post reported this week that Harvey was out partying in Los Angeles the night before pitching in San Diego last weekend. “Usually I get upset if a report is unexpected,” Alderson said this week. “So I guess the short answer is no.” (© Copyright 2018 CBS Broadcasting Inc.
