STAFFORD TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) — State Police say two women were killed and two children were injured when their car and a pickup truck collided on the Garden State Parkway in southern New Jersey. It wasn’t immediately clear what caused the crash, which occurred around 2:45 p.m. Saturday near milemarker 63.6 in a southbound lane of the highway in Stafford Township. State police say the two women killed in the crash were sitting in the front seat of the car. They were pronounced dead at the scene. A boy and girl sitting in the car’s back seat suffered serious injuries and were flown by helicopter to a hospital, while a woman in the pickup was treated at a hospital for minor injuries. The three other people in the pickup were taken to the hospital for observation. The names of the injured and further details on their conditions were not disclosed. It did not appear that any other vehicles were involved in the accident. Troopers shut down a southbound stretch of the highway for a few hours while the investigation was ongoing, which caused major traffic delays in the area. A crash in March on Garden State Parkway killed a 22-year-old man and injured two others when three vehicles collided. You Might Also Be Interested In: Street Vendors In ‘Food Fight’ For Prime Real
